Shares in CSG came under selling pressure at the start of the new trading week, shedding 3.9% to change hands at EUR 15.05. No company-specific trigger was behind the decline. Instead, a more cautious stance toward the defence sector as a whole — visible for several weeks now, according to media reports — has caught up with the stock, which is also trading below its 50-day moving average of EUR 16.41.

The pullback stands in contrast to the prior Friday, when the equity closed at EUR 15.66 after a 5.6% advance. That gain, too, lacked a fresh corporate catalyst, and market watchers attributed it less to a single day's event than to the string of strategic moves the defence and technology group has rolled out of late.

A widening map of ventures

CSG is in the midst of a deliberate internationalization push, extending its value chain beyond its traditional core segments through new engagements in space, drone-sector partnerships and planned industrial joint ventures. The central question for investors is how these initiatives will feed through to operating earnings over the medium term.

The most prominent step came on October 13, when the group announced its entry into the space sector by acquiring a 9.5% stake in MDA Space, making it the Canadian company's largest shareholder. CSG intends to use the holding to build its own space capabilities, a business that will sit alongside its established defence and aviation activities. Reuters reported that the stake could mark the opening of a far-reaching cooperation, potentially including joint European manufacturing sites and future acquisitions.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying CSG?

Autonomy partnerships on two fronts

In autonomous technologies, CSG has moved on parallel tracks. Through subsidiary Federal Ammunition, it joined forces with O.F. Mossberg & Sons and Palladyne AI on October 8 to develop SwarmShot, an autonomous airborne counter-drone system that combines specialty ammunition with a weapons module and autonomous control technology. Four days later, on October 12, subsidiary Excalibur International signed a cooperation agreement with US firm Bavovna aimed at deploying adaptive-autonomy products and alternative navigation solutions internationally.

The group also made its debut at the AUSA trade fair of the U.S. Army, held October 12–14, presenting products from its Defence Systems and Ammo+ divisions.

Caspian production and a cautious analyst camp

Beyond the high-tech projects, CSG is expanding conventional manufacturing capacity. Plans for a second joint venture in Azerbaijan, focused on producing self-propelled howitzers, surfaced roughly three weeks ago. According to media reports, the venture is to be formally established in December, with regular production targeted for 2027. CSG puts the total economic volume of the project at EUR 1.8 billion over a planned seven-year term.

Analysts remain measured. A Komer?ní banka analyst noted that, apart from the MDA Space stake, significant corporate announcements have been scarce of late. On October 9, Colin Moody of RBC Capital reaffirmed his "Hold" rating on CSG with a price target of EUR 18.00, leaving room for only moderate upside.

November date on the calendar

Concrete insight into current trading will arrive next month. CSG's financial calendar sets the release of its third-quarter 2026 trading report for November 11, when the market will learn how the order pipeline in the core businesses has developed.
