Shares in Czechoslovak Group climbed 5.6% to EUR 15.66 on Friday, capping a week in which the defence and technology group was among the strongest performers on the Prague exchange. The advance gathered pace toward the end of the trading week, lifting the stock's seven-day gain to 11%, though no single trigger for Friday's move was identified.

The rally coincided with a broader recovery across European defence names, which drew fresh support from mounting doubts over future US military and intelligence backing for Ukraine as the war escalates. That sector-wide tailwind gave CSG's stock a noticeable lift regardless of company-specific news.

A Space Beachhead, Then a Drone Consortium

Operationally, the group has packed a lot into the past several days. On Tuesday, CSG announced its entry into the space industry by acquiring a 9.5% stake in MDA Space, making it the largest single shareholder of the Canadian space company. Management framed the investment as a platform for possible future collaboration, including the establishment of European manufacturing or assembly sites and joint strategic acquisitions. A dedicated space team has been set up to pursue those goals.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying CSG?

A day earlier, CSG's Excalibur International subsidiary signed a cooperation agreement with Bavovna, a US developer of autonomy and alternative navigation technology for unmanned platforms. The partnership covers worldwide distribution and integration of the American partner's systems.

CSG also used its first appearance at the AUSA defence trade fair in Washington, held from 12 to 14 October, to confirm plans for local production. Assembly of vehicles under the Tatra brand is scheduled to begin on US soil in early 2027. Separately, through its Federal Ammunition brand, the group joined O.F. Mossberg & Sons and Palladyne AI in a consortium developing SwarmShot, an autonomous airborne interceptor designed to counter hostile drone swarms. No financial terms or timeline for that project were disclosed.

Still Deep in the Red From Its Peak

Despite the recent bounce, the share price remains highly volatile. At EUR 15.66, the stock sits 57% below its 52-week high of EUR 36.05.

Investors will get their next look at operating performance next month. CSG has scheduled its trading update for the third quarter of 2026 on 11 November 2026. The company entered its customary quiet period on Monday, meaning no further material financial commentary is expected from management until those figures are published.
