Bayer closed out a busy week with two fresh product approvals in China, an improved full-year outlook and a Missouri courtroom victory — yet sell-side opinion on the stock remains stubbornly split, with price targets now ranging from well below to comfortably above the market price.

The widest gap sits between Jefferies and the DZ Bank. Jefferies lifted its target to EUR 48.50 from EUR 46 on Friday but, according to media reports, kept its rating at "Hold" — leaving the new target beneath Friday's closing price of EUR 55.08. The DZ Bank had raised its fair value to EUR 64 a day earlier, on Thursday, while reaffirming its buy recommendation. UBS, for its part, confirmed a more constructive stance on Wednesday, nudging its target to EUR 66 from EUR 62 and maintaining "Buy."

Guidance Raised on Pharma Momentum

The improved forecasts, published with Tuesday's quarterly release, rest on a stronger performance in the pharmaceuticals division. Group revenue for the third quarter of 2026 reached EUR 10.1 billion, while EBITDA before special items came in at EUR 1.62 billion.

Management now expects currency-adjusted group EBITDA of EUR 9.8 billion to EUR 10.3 billion for the full year, up from a previous range of EUR 9.6 billion to EUR 10.1 billion. The free cash flow outlook was also revised upward, to between minus EUR 1.5 billion and minus EUR 0.5 billion, and the company flagged a lighter net financial debt burden at year-end. The pharmaceuticals margin guidance was raised as well.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bayer?

The quarter was not without blemishes. Bayer posted a group net loss of EUR 0.7 billion for the three months, weighed down in part by impairment charges at Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Health.

Missouri Jury Sides with Monsanto

Alongside the pharma momentum, management pointed to a recent legal win in its long-running glyphosate litigation. On 30 October, a Missouri jury unanimously rejected claims brought by three women against Roundup. Reuters described the outcome for Bayer subsidiary Monsanto as an early signal for the prospects of further cases.

Two Chinese Approvals in Quick Succession

Regulatory news added to the week's flow. On Wednesday Bayer announced Chinese approval of Sevabertinib as a first-line treatment for adults with advanced HER2-mutated non-small cell lung cancer. The green light rests on data from the ongoing Phase I/II SOHO-01 study, according to the company.

Bayer at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

That followed the 26 October clearance of Asundexian, which will be marketed in China under the brand name Sunharbo. The approval covers reduction of stroke risk following a non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke or a high-risk transient ischemic attack.

For investors, the week offered a little of everything: upgraded numbers, a litigation reprieve and a widening pipeline footprint in China. What it has not delivered is consensus — and with Jefferies' target sitting below the current share price while the DZ Bank's fair value sits well above it, the debate over Bayer's valuation looks set to run.
