Bawag PSK: Analysts Lift Targets as Court Date and Q3 Results Loom
Published on 10/16/2026 at 05:51 | Editorial boerse-global.deTwo brokerage upgrades in as many days have put BAWAG Group's valuation back in the spotlight, just as the Austrian lender prepares to report quarterly earnings and faces a decisive court hearing over its Irish acquisition.
Keefe, Bruyette & Woods raised its price target on the stock yesterday to EUR 190.0 from EUR 188.30, according to media reports, while keeping its "Outperform" rating intact. The move came a day after Oddo BHF lifted its own target to EUR 188.0 from EUR 175.0, also reaffirming an "Outperform" recommendation. Neither house altered its stance on the shares — only the level at which they see fair value.
The revised targets sit above the stock's most recent close of EUR 166.60, leaving the equity trading below both marks. That gap, however, says nothing definitive about whether or when the price might converge on those levels; analyst targets are estimates, not guarantees of future performance.
Earnings Call Set for October 19
BAWAG has scheduled the release of its third-quarter 2026 results for October 19, with CEO Anas Abuzaakouk and CFO Enver Sirucic due to take part in the accompanying earnings call at 10:00 a.m. CEST. The report gives investors their next chance to weigh the company's operating performance against the upbeat assessments from analysts — a comparison that remains open, since the brokerages have already adjusted their views while the actual figures are still pending.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Bawag PSK?
Irish Takeover Panel Rejects Axis Capital Complaints
Running alongside the earnings calendar is BAWAG's planned purchase of Permanent TSB, a transaction valued at EUR 1.62 billion. On Monday, the Irish Takeover Panel declined to find any breach of Irish takeover rules, dismissing complaints raised by Axis Capital about the sales process. As RTÉ reported, the panel saw no grounds to conclude that regulations had been violated.
That ruling addresses the procedural challenge only. It does not constitute final clearance for the deal, which still requires approval from the High Court at a hearing set for October 27.
PTSB itself pushed back on Axis Capital earlier in the process. On October 5, the Irish lender said Axis Capital had not submitted an offer for the company, calling its announcement "highly speculative and conditional." PTSB added that it remains focused on the recommended offer from BAWAG P.S.K., which shareholders have already backed.
Bawag PSK at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Two Separate Hurdles for Investors
For shareholders, the distinction between the various stages matters. The shareholder vote is in hand, and the takeover panel has found no rule violation. What is still missing is the court's sign-off.
The sequence ahead is clear: quarterly figures first, then the High Court hearing that will determine how the approval process proceeds. Until then, the PTSB acquisition remains a proposed — and not yet completed — transaction, and the higher analyst targets do nothing to pre-empt either event.
