AppLovin gave shareholders plenty to chew on in a single week: blowout third-quarter figures, a bigger buyback, a fresh round of analyst target hikes and an 11% pop on Friday. Yet the stock's next leg will be decided less by what has already been booked than by whether the company can hit the revenue range it laid out for the fourth quarter of 2026.

That range — $2.365 billion to $2.395 billion — came in above analyst estimates when management issued it on Wednesday. It now serves as the concrete barometer against which the coming months will be judged. Meeting it would reinforce confidence in the company's planning; falling short would raise doubts about whether the momentum reported so far has staying power.

The numbers behind the rally

For the third quarter of 2026, AppLovin posted revenue of $2.18 billion, up 55% year over year. Net income reached $1.44 billion, a 72% jump — meaning profit outpaced sales growth. Alongside the results, the board approved a $3.2 billion expansion of its share repurchase authorization, lifting the total approved program to $3.6 billion as of the end of October.

The company also guided adjusted EBITDA for the fourth quarter to a range of $1.995 billion to $2.03 billion. Both figures are forecasts, not results already in hand.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Applovin?

Analysts move, but not in lockstep

The sell side responded, though not with one voice. Evercore ISI analyst Robert Coolbrith raised his price target to $540 from $510 on Thursday while keeping an "Outperform" rating. A day later, Wells Fargo lifted its target to $347 but stuck with "Equal Weight" — a higher valuation marker paired with a neutral recommendation. According to media reports, three research houses raised targets on Thursday without changing their positive ratings, with new objectives spanning $450 to $540 and ratings still reading Buy or an above-market expectation.

The gap between the bullish and the cautious camps comes down to the same question: can the company deliver the next growth step it has promised?

A legal clock runs alongside the growth story

Separately, Pomerantz LLP said Thursday that a securities class action had been filed against AppLovin and certain executives in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Robbins LLP also announced the suit, specifying that it covers investors who bought shares between February 12 and August 5, 2026, and naming November 16, 2026 as the deadline for motions to serve as lead plaintiff.

The litigation stands as an independent uncertainty for anyone weighing the stock. Should it produce charges, those could add pressure on the valuation — but the filing itself offers no basis for anticipating the size or likelihood of any such hit. The risk scenario has to remain explicitly conditional.

Applovin at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

What investors are actually weighing

The optimistic case rests on AppLovin hitting its announced revenue band and sustaining its strong earnings trajectory. If sales growth continues to travel with robust profit growth, the confidence behind the higher targets finds support in hard numbers. The more guarded view accepts that the company has already reported hefty earnings gains, and asks whether the next step is truly deliverable.

Either way, the revenue line for the fourth quarter of 2026 is the next hard checkpoint, and the progress of the class action deserves attention in parallel. Growth supplies the opportunity, the guidance sets the standard, and the lawsuit rounds out the risk side of the ledger.
