Alphabet is accelerating its artificial intelligence offensive, aiming squarely at rival Anthropic while riding a wave of renewed confidence in its core search business. The dual momentum — operational and regulatory — has given the US tech giant a clearer runway to monetize its AI investments.

Search Dominance Holds Firm

Fresh survey data has eased fears that generative language models might cannibalize Google's traditional search franchise. According to a consumer poll cited by Evercore ISI, 78 percent of respondents still turn to Google as their primary search engine. That figure has now risen for a fourth consecutive quarter, recovering from a previous low of 70 percent.

The findings, based on August survey data, also revealed that 60 percent of participants said they are conducting more searches overall since new AI features were introduced. Analyst Mark Mahaney, who raised his price target on the stock from 420 to 450 US dollars, pointed to these results as evidence that the core business is proving more resilient than many market participants had feared.

Meanwhile, Alphabet's own chatbot Gemini has narrowed the gap with OpenAI's ChatGPT to just three percentage points in user share — a metric that underscores the company's growing competitive footing in the AI assistant arena.

Wall Street Turns More Bullish

Two research houses lifted their expectations for the company. Beyond Evercore ISI's upward revision, Tigress Financial adjusted its valuation as well, raising its price target from 415 to 485 US dollars while maintaining a "Strong Buy" rating. Analyst Ivan Feinseth attributed the move to the rapid expansion of the Gemini platform.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Alphabet?

Google CEO Sundar Pichai reinforced that narrative, noting that nearly 90 percent of Fortune 100 companies now deploy Gemini Enterprise. Internal computing resources are being prioritized for the development of these new foundation models, signaling where the company sees its next phase of growth.

Courtroom Relief Removes Structural Risk

The operational tailwinds coincide with a significantly improved regulatory picture. Judge Leonie Brinkema rejected a breakup of the company's search division sought by the US Department of Justice, describing structural separations as neither realistic nor necessary. Instead, Google must comply with behavioral remedies over a six-year period, including closer interoperability with competing systems and the release of certain auction data.

For Alphabet, that judicial decision strips a substantial risk from its business model. Combined with the stabilization of its legacy search operations and the broadening of the Gemini product lineup, the tech giant can now direct its full attention toward monetizing its AI investments.

Energy Alliance Targets Grid Bottlenecks

Underpinning the massive power demands of its AI expansion, Alphabet is also pursuing new partnerships. The initiative aims to sidestep electricity supply constraints by using flexible load management during peak periods to make more efficient use of existing grid capacity.

The backers project that this approach could unlock up to 100 gigawatts of additional capacity in the US power grid for data centers. Through this strategy, Alphabet seeks to bridge lengthy permitting processes for grid expansion and keep its infrastructure buildout on schedule.

Market Response

Investors have taken note. In recent trading, Alphabet shares climbed 2.0 percent to 308.55 euros, leaving the stock roughly 12 percent below its 52-week high. The prior session had already seen a 1.3 percent gain, with the stock closing at 302.70 euros as the fresh assessments of search strength and AI adoption provided lift.
