Almonty's 33-Dollar Call Rests on a Calendar, Not a Contract

DA Davidson reiterated its buy rating on Almonty with a $33 price target, but its model excludes Rwanda and Montana revenue and EBITDA.

DA Davidson's decision to reaffirm its buy rating on Almonty and hold its price target at 33.00 dollars tells investors far less than the assumptions sitting underneath that number. The real question is not where the stock could go, but which of Almonty's projects the analysts have actually agreed to count — and which they have deliberately left off the ledger.

The confirmation came after meetings with company representatives at DA Davidson's annual industry conference in Nashville. Alongside the unchanged rating, the firm revised its revenue and adjusted EBITDA estimates for 2026 and 2027, while leaving most of its 2028 assumptions untouched. No direction or magnitude for those revisions was disclosed, so they cannot be read as either an upgrade or a downgrade. A reiterated buy call speaks to the firm's overall view of the business; it does not substitute for examining the conditions built into its model.

What the Model Counts, and What It Doesn't

For its 2027 and 2028 projections, DA Davidson factors in the reprocessing of tailings at Los Santos under the Sandvik agreement. Revenue and EBITDA from the Rwanda contract and the Montana project are excluded. That omission should not be mistaken for a hidden earnings reserve. Projects left out of a model can represent additional upside, but folding them in demands defensible assumptions — and that is precisely where an appealing corporate narrative separates itself from a verifiable earnings calculation.

The timeline carries its own caveats. DA Davidson expects Sangdong to deliver its first contributions to revenue and adjusted EBITDA in the fourth quarter of 2026, with Phases I and II reaching full production rates over the course of 2027. That forecast hinges on the timing of the export permit, and on the lag between shipping and revenue recognition. The firm is naming not just a production target but the conditions under which that target shows up in the financial statements.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Almonty?

The distinction matters. Operational progress and its visible reflection in the accounts are not the same thing. Watching production milestones alone can obscure when the financial impact actually lands; conversely, a delay in revenue recognition does not automatically invalidate every long-term assumption.

A Split Tape and a Split Street

The market, in any case, refused to be anchored by a confirmed analyst verdict. Almonty shed 6.4% yesterday to close at 9.93 euros, leaving the positive DA Davidson assessment and the negative daily move sitting side by side.

Analyst opinion is hardly uniform, either. Goldman Sachs rates Almonty neutral with a 13-dollar price target, while other assessments run more optimistic. That spread carries more weight than the temptation to treat the most bullish target as the benchmark. Price targets are outputs of assumptions, not promised payouts — and divergent judgments are a reminder to inspect the underlying math.

There is a second counterweight beyond scheduling: the quality of the recent profit increase. According to media reports, investors attributed it largely to non-cash gains from warrants and derivatives rather than to mining operations. Such valuation effects do not answer the question of self-sustaining operating profitability. Persistent losses and heavy cash burn are being reported alongside them, and if self-sustaining profitability fails to materialize, additional financing needs could follow.

For investors, the line to hold is clear. The confirmed buy rating describes expected progress; durable operating earnings have yet to redeem those expectations. The next genuinely meaningful development for Almonty's valuation would not be another project announcement, but the inclusion of previously excluded ventures in the models with traceable revenue and earnings assumptions. Until then, the clean separation stands: contributions already baked in, expectations explicitly conditioned, and possibilities still waiting on the sidelines.
