Allianz Taps New Digital Chiefs as Analysts Keep Faith in 2027 Strategy

Allianz is preparing a leadership handover across two of its operating units while pushing ahead with a plan to knit its digital and direct businesses more tightly together. The Munich insurer confirmed that Philipp Kroetz will take charge of Allianz Partners on 1 November 2026, stepping into the role vacated by Tomas Kunzmann. On the same date, Laurent Floquet becomes chief executive of Allianz Direct. Both appointments remain subject to the customary regulatory approvals.
Kunzmann's next move takes him to the top table of the parent company: he is slated to join the board of Allianz SE on 1 January 2027. The group framed the appointments as a way of preserving continuity while sharpening its digital insurance offering.
Running alongside the personnel changes is a broader integration effort. Under the banner of "Connected Platforms," Allianz Partners and Allianz Direct are expected to work far more closely, pooling services and direct insurance products onto shared platforms and smoothing the interfaces customers deal with. Media reports also point to a fresh chapter in the group's capital management: a revived life reinsurance sidecar named Sconset Re, with the Bermuda entities Sconset Re II Ltd. and Sconset Reinsurance II Capital LP already pre-registered.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Allianz?
Chart Cools After Summer Peak
The equity has been taking a breather of late. The stock last changed hands at EUR 411.10, roughly 9.5% below the 52-week high of EUR 454.50 it struck on 3 September 2026. In a separate reading, the shares closed at EUR 411.90 on Thursday, putting them about 9.4% under that same peak. Market participants attributed the pullback partly to broad economic worries and rising oil prices, coming roughly two weeks after the company's share buyback program had all but run its course.
Sentiment on the analyst side remains considerably more upbeat. Michael Huttner of Berenberg reiterated his "Buy" rating on Tuesday, keeping a price target of EUR 684, with the 29 September note citing expected growth in revenue and operating profit through the end of the current Strategy Plan 2027. DZ Bank had already staked out an optimistic position on 18 September, maintaining its "Buy" call and lifting the fair value to EUR 495.
Investors will get a clearer read on current trading in a matter of weeks. Allianz is due to publish its third-quarter 2026 results on 12 November, a release that should show how claims costs and operating momentum shaped the interim accounts through late summer.
