Allianz has reinforced its bet on India, with the Munich-based insurer joining forces with Jio Financial Services to inject fresh capital into their joint venture, Jio Allianz General Insurance. The funding was channelled through subsidiary Allianz Europe B.V., underscoring the group's ambition to deepen its footprint in one of the world's fastest-growing insurance markets.

The move comes as the Allianz share changes hands at EUR 418.50, a modest gain of 0.2% on the day and still some distance below its 52-week peak of EUR 454.50.

Berenberg Sticks With Its Bull Case

Analyst backing for the stock remains firm. Michael Huttner of Berenberg reaffirmed his buy rating on 29 September, attaching a price target of EUR 684. His optimism rests largely on anticipated growth in revenue and operating profit through to the expiry of the current strategic plan in 2027.

That kind of target implies considerable confidence that management will hit its interim goals across both core markets and the international business. DZ Bank, for its part, adjusted its fair value for the stock to EUR 495 on 18 September while keeping its "Buy" recommendation, according to media reports. The bank's analysts point to the company's solid earnings power and disciplined use of capital, with the dependable underwriting business seen as a key anchor in a demanding market environment.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Allianz?

Boardroom Reshuffle Reaches Specialty and Direct Units

Leadership changes are taking shape across several group subsidiaries. Philipp Kroetz will move from Allianz Direct to head Allianz Partners as of 1 November, with Laurent Floquet — currently Chief Operating Officer at Allianz Partners — stepping in as the new CEO of Allianz Direct. Further out, Tomas Kunzmann is set to join the board of parent company Allianz SE on 1 January 2027.

There is movement at Allianz Commercial as well: Brian McNamara retired at the end of September, and Stephen Morton is slated to succeed him as Global Head of Captive Fronting and Captive Solutions on 1 March 2027. All appointments remain subject to regulatory approval, and together they show management repositioning key roles in the specialty and direct businesses well ahead of time.

Buyback Keeps Rolling

Alongside its dividend, the group continues to retire shares to lift per-share value. Roughly a week ago, Allianz SE repurchased 182,616 of its own shares under its buyback programme, a transaction carrying a stated market value of EUR 79,530,380.11. The measure forms part of the Munich insurer's regular capital allocation, returning surplus funds to shareholders.

At the current price of EUR 417.50, Allianz carries a market capitalisation of EUR 157.86 billion.

Wealth Study Lands Ahead of Q3 Numbers

On 29 September, Allianz SE published the 17th edition of its Global Wealth Report, a study examining the assets and debt positions of private households across nearly 60 countries. The release lands just ahead of the next set of hard numbers: on 12 November, the group will report third-quarter and nine-month figures for 2026, giving the market a read on how new business and claims trends have held up over the year.
