Allianz Hands France Sales Reins to Martinez While Kupke Takes German Life and Health Distribution

Allianz has moved to lock down leadership across two of its most important European markets, naming new distribution chiefs in France and Germany as part of a broader reshuffling of its executive bench.
Julien Martinez will take charge of sales at Allianz France, succeeding Alexandre du Garreau, who is moving into a different role within the group. The company confirmed the appointment on Wednesday. In Germany, Sören Kupke is set to lead the distribution divisions at both Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG and Allianz Private Krankenversicherungs-AG from 1 January 2027. He takes over from Thomas Wiesemann, who will step down from the boards of both entities on 31 December 2026 and retire.
Kupke's appointment remains subject to the customary regulatory clearance. By settling the succession early, the insurer has secured continuity at the top of two units that form a cornerstone of its life and private health business, where distribution underpins both customer service and the network of sales partners.
Fresh Mandates Across the Group
The German change slots into a wider set of personnel moves taking effect at the turn of the year and beyond. Tomas Kunzmann will join the board of Allianz SE on 1 January 2027, reshaping the holding company's leadership as the new financial year begins.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Allianz?
At the group's specialist subsidiaries, Philipp Kroetz becomes CEO of Allianz Partners on 1 November 2026, with Laurent Floquet taking the top job at Allianz Direct at the same time. The overhaul reflects an effort to sharpen the group's profile in key markets and tighten coordination between its international operations and national companies.
New Products for Retail Clients
Alongside the management changes, Allianz Deutschland broadened its offering for private customers, launching a telephone legal advice service on Monday for registered clients who do not hold a legal protection policy of their own. The format provides up to two consultations per insurance year for EUR 8.90. Roughly a week earlier, the private health insurance arm introduced "MeinKrankenhausschutz," a hospital cover product with three tariff tiers that allows certain existing customers to switch without a health check.
Buyback Wrapped Up as Jefferies Tweaks Target
On the capital side, Allianz completed its 2026 share buyback around two weeks ago, repurchasing a total of 6,247,961 of its own shares for just under EUR 2.5 billion. According to media reports, Jefferies adjusted its price target on the stock to EUR 420 while keeping a "Hold" rating.
Investor attention is now shifting toward the operating figures. On 12 November 2026, the group will publish its results for the third quarter and for the first nine months of the current financial year, giving a read on how the reorganisation is feeding through into the divisions' performance.
In Wednesday trading, the shares held steady against a weaker market backdrop. The stock stood at EUR 417.40, a modest daily decline of 0.1%. News agency dpa-AFX attributed the broader losses on Germany's benchmark index mainly to rising bond yields, with no company-specific negative catalyst for the insurer. The price remains 8.2% below its 52-week high.
