Allianz Draws Fresh Analyst Backing as Waymo Tie-Up and Boardroom Reshuffle Signal 2027 Ambitions

Two separate valuation calls have landed on Allianz in recent weeks, and both point the same direction. The DZ Bank lifted its fair value for the Munich insurance giant to 495 euros on 18 September while keeping a "Buy" rating, and Berenberg followed on 28 September, reaffirming its own "Buy" stance with a 684-euro target. Analyst Michael Huttner, who authored the Berenberg note, pins the upside on the revenue and earnings growth he expects the group to deliver through the end of its strategic plan in 2027.
The endorsements arrive against a softer tape. At a current price of 418.20 euros, the stock has shed 7.2% over the past 30 days and sits roughly 8.0% below its 52-week high. A separate reading puts the shares at 417.50 euros, beneath a 52-week peak of 454.50 euros, which leaves the company valued at 157.86 billion euros.
What unsettled sentiment, according to media accounts, was speculation over privately held exposures in the insurer's portfolio — chiefly loans to mid-sized corporates and other lending positions. No single trigger for the pullback could be conclusively identified in the market. The stock's supporters point instead to the ongoing share repurchase program, which carries a total volume of up to 2.5 billion euros. Roughly a week ago the group reported fresh purchases of its own stock: 182,616 shares with a stated market value of 79,530,380.11 euros. Alongside the dividend, that steady reduction of shares in circulation is designed to lift per-share value.

Leadership Changes Across Key Units
Management is simultaneously reworking its bench. Tomas Kunzmann is slated to join the Allianz SE board on 1 January 2027. At the subsidiaries, Philipp Kroetz takes the helm of Allianz Partners on 1 November 2026, with Laurent Floquet — currently chief operating officer at Allianz Partners — set to become CEO of Allianz Direct. All of these appointments remain subject to regulatory approval.
There is a change at Allianz Commercial as well: Brian McNamara retired at the end of September, and Stephen Morton is due to succeed him as Global Head of Captive Fronting and Captive Solutions on 1 March 2027. The long lead times suggest the group is positioning key roles in its specialty and direct operations well ahead of schedule.
Waymo Partnership Opens a New Front
Beyond the traditional insurance business, Allianz Partners has struck a cooperation with Waymo covering insurance, claims management and safety research tied to autonomous mobility in Europe. The move signals a strategic gaze fixed firmly forward, even as the share price works through a period of consolidation.
The group's broader profile got an airing on 29 September with the 17th edition of its Global Wealth Report, a study of household wealth and debt across nearly 60 countries. For market participants, the dependable underwriting engine remains the central pillar — and the reason the analyst community continues to see room to run.
