Adidas Turns to Shanghai Spectacle as Investors Brace for October 29 Test
Published on 10/20/2026 at 03:31 | Editorial boerse-global.deAdidas has rolled out its "Future of Three" immersive brand showcase in Shanghai, a multi-day push into a market the Herzogenaurach-based company treats as a strategic cornerstone. The event, which opened on Monday, blends runway shows, product presentations and a broader programme spanning sport and culture. Among the highlights: a look at the spring/summer 2027 collections and the first catwalk presentation by the Y-3 fashion label on Chinese soil. For Adidas, the message is straightforward — sporting performance and fashion lifestyle belong together, and local relevance in China will shape future growth.
The Shanghai spectacle is only part of a busy product calendar. On Tuesday, Adidas Originals and Pharrell Williams added "Red" and "Storm" colourways to the VIRGINIA Adistar Jellyfish line, continuing their joint design work on the model range. Neither side disclosed financial terms or the scope of the partnership. Days earlier, on 15 October, the company unveiled its Ultimate365+ Course Control Layering golf apparel collection for colder weather, priced between $75/€75 and $150/€150. On 13 October alone, Adidas announced the return of the Harden Vol. 1 basketball shoe with James Harden, built with Hyperboost technology; presented the third FW26 drop with Arte Antwerp featuring winter outerwear; and confirmed a new Gazelle Indoor colourway with Bad Bunny called "Solar Gold".
Against that marketing backdrop, the share price tells a more sober story. The stock closed Monday at €157.15, down 19% from where it traded roughly twelve months ago and 22% below its 52-week high. On a shorter horizon the picture brightens: the current level sits about 5.1% above the 50-day moving average of €149.46, and trading has been steady as observers wait for clearer signs on operations.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Adidas?
Analysts are split on what comes next. RBC Capital Markets reaffirmed its "Outperform" rating on 14 October with a €200 price target; analyst Piral Dadhania nudged his forecasts for 2027 and 2028 slightly higher, citing positive currency effects. Berenberg struck a more cautious tone the same day, keeping its "Hold" rating and €190 target. Analyst Nick Anderson argued that the industry's bloated inventory levels must normalise noticeably before a broadly more optimistic view of the sector is warranted.
Some three weeks ago, analysts had cut their price targets for Adidas. According to media reports, no specific company-related trigger can be identified for the share price movement over the period under review, meaning no robust news catalyst has been established.
What the market does have circled is the next hard data point. Adidas has scheduled publication of its nine-month 2026 results for 29 October. The report will offer fresh fundamental insight into the third quarter just ended and the full year — and show how far the brand-building initiatives and inventory management have actually fed through to the numbers.
