Accenture shares staged a dramatic recovery on Wednesday, climbing 18% to EUR 191.85 after the consulting giant unveiled an aggressive expansion blueprint for its new fiscal year. The rally marked a sharp reversal for a stock that had been languishing, though it still carries a year-to-date loss of 17%.

The surge followed the release of fourth-quarter results that beat management's own forecasts on both revenue and earnings. For the period ending in August, Accenture posted revenue of USD 18.68 billion — a 6% increase in US dollars and 7% in local currencies. The company had previously guided for revenue between USD 17.75 billion and USD 18.40 billion.

Profitability Outpaces Expectations

The bottom line delivered an even more striking beat. Diluted GAAP earnings per share jumped 46% to USD 3.29, well ahead of the USD 3.18 consensus estimate. Full-year revenue reached USD 74.18 billion, up 5% in constant currency, while adjusted EPS for the fiscal year rose 8% to USD 13.97.

The company returned USD 11.5 billion to shareholders through dividends and buybacks during the fiscal year, underscoring its commitment to capital returns. For the coming year, management has earmarked at least USD 9.5 billion for shareholder distributions, including USD 5.5 billion dedicated to share repurchases. The quarterly dividend will rise 5% to USD 1.71 per share, payable to eligible investors on November 13, 2026.

AI Partnerships Anchor Growth Strategy

CEO Julie Sweet has positioned artificial intelligence as the centerpiece of Accenture's forward strategy. The company sealed a five-year strategic alliance with Anthropic in September, with each partner committing at least USD 1 billion to testing procedures and safety standards. Accenture will leverage a workforce of nearly 110,000 data and algorithm specialists to support these initiatives.

The consultancy is also capitalizing on a broader trend: as operating costs for AI models decline, corporations face pressure to overhaul their IT infrastructure. Accenture aims to capture this demand through partnerships with leading developers, strengthening its competitive position on large-scale global projects.

Acquisitions and Bookings Provide Tailwind

Management projects constant-currency revenue growth of 3% to 6% for fiscal 2027, with the midpoint exceeding the average analyst estimate of 3.9%. Acquisitions will play a significant role, with approximately USD 5 billion budgeted for purchases. In June, Accenture announced three cybersecurity deals totaling USD 4.18 billion, bolstering its presence in security-critical technology segments.

The expansion plans rest on a solid operational foundation. Fourth-quarter bookings reached USD 22.2 billion, bringing the full-year total to a record USD 84.5 billion. GAAP EPS for fiscal 2027 is projected in a range of USD 14.39 to USD 14.81.

Analysts Remain Measured

Not everyone is convinced the momentum will carry. Wells Fargo analysts noted ahead of the release that AI-related project implementation takes time, even though consulting demand remains fundamentally intact. Susquehanna maintained a "Neutral" rating on the stock.

The mixed sentiment reflects a broader tension: while the latest report confirms stable demand for transformation and cloud services despite a challenging industry environment, questions linger about the pace of AI-driven growth. For now, investors appear willing to bet that Accenture's combination of generous capital returns and strategic technology investments will deliver results.
