A €9.3bn Dividend ETF Sits a Hair's Breadth From Its High — With a Fresh Payout on the Calendar

The VanEck Morningstar Developed Markets Dividend Leaders UCITS ETF has been making waves on both sides of the distribution calendar. Having already caught attention at the SIX Swiss Exchange during the trading week through August 21 — where it ranked among the most conspicuous listed products — the fund is now preparing to hand investors another quarterly cheque.
September Distribution Details
The newly announced gross payout comes to €0.40 per share. The ex-dividend date falls on September 2, with the record date set for the following day, September 3. Investors holding units at that point will receive their payment automatically on September 9, 2026. Anyone buying before the ex-date still locks in entitlement to the distribution, though the fund's price will be adjusted downward by the payout amount on that day.
This September payment follows a considerably heftier June distribution of €0.81 per share, which carried a June 3 ex-date. The marked difference between the two is par for the course in quarterly distribution schedules, where payouts track the dividends actually collected from the underlying portfolio holdings.

A Fund With Heft and Momentum
The ETF commands roughly €9.3–9.38 billion in assets under management — depending on the measurement date — cementing its position among Europe's larger dividend-focused funds. Its total expense ratio of 0.38 percent sits comfortably within the typical range for passive income strategies.
The share price currently trades at €55.86, a mere 0.054 percent beneath the 52-week high of €55.89 touched on the day the distribution was announced. Year-to-date gains stand at 16 percent, while the twelve-month advance reaches 25 percent. Measured from the 52-week low of €43.50 set on September 17, 2025, the fund has climbed 28 percent.
What Drives the Portfolio
The fund's methodology targets the 100 highest-yielding stocks from developed markets, but with a crucial filter: candidates must clear sustainability and dividend-continuity hurdles. This distinguishes the approach from pure yield screeners, as the stability of each company's payout history is scrutinised alongside raw income potential.
Top-ten concentration sits at 34.79 percent of the portfolio. Verizon Communications leads the field with a 4.83 percent weighting, followed by HSBC Holdings at 4.50 percent and Pfizer at 4.10 percent. This structure reflects an index rebalancing completed just over a month ago, after which the fund's price advanced 6.9 percent.
A Moderate Risk Profile
The fund's defensive character is borne out by its volatility metrics. Over the twelve months through end-August, annualised volatility registered 8.19 percent, with a maximum drawdown of just 3.28 percent over that stretch. On a shorter 30-day window, volatility comes in at a calmer 7.7 percent — a sign of the relatively tranquil market phase currently supporting income-oriented equities.
VanEck has also refreshed regulatory documentation for its Irish and Dutch UCITS platforms, clarifying the ESG screening criteria applied to the underlying Morningstar Developed Markets Large Cap Dividend Leaders Screened Select Index. These updates matter for investors who hold — or avoid — the fund on sustainability grounds, and the issuer has spotlighted the product within its broader "Income ETFs" lineup.

For income-focused investors, the fund continues to pair scheduled distributions with the growth potential of a broadly diversified equity portfolio — and at current levels, it is doing so within touching distance of its all-time high.
