XRP Gains Momentum as Regulatory and Technical Stars Align

The XRP ecosystem is witnessing a powerful convergence of political progress and demonstrable technical superiority, setting the stage for a potential institutional breakthrough. Recent developments from Washington to Tokyo underscore a shifting landscape where regulatory clarity and real-world efficiency are driving unprecedented capital flows.

A significant political shift occurred on April 9 when Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong publicly endorsed the CLARITY Act, marking a notable reversal for the exchange, which had been the sole major industry player opposing certain provisions of the bill. This move was reportedly influenced by a White House economic advisory report that detailed the impacts of proposed stablecoin interest regulations. The momentum continued as U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent published an op-ed the following day urging the Senate to pass the legislation before the midterm election cycle begins. SEC Chair Paul Atkins added that both the SEC and CFTC stand ready to implement the new regulatory framework immediately upon its adoption.

Analysts at Standard Chartered Bank estimate that formal passage of the CLARITY Act could unlock between $4 billion and $8 billion in additional institutional capital. The legislation would provide major asset managers with the legal foundation to settle cross-border payments directly in XRP. The Senate Banking Committee is expected to prepare the bill for a vote in the latter half of April, following the Senate's return from recess on April 13.

Concurrently, the XRP Ledger is proving its mettle with robust performance data. On April 10, the network processed over 140 transactions per second at times, driven by high trading volume in the XRP/RLUSD pair, all while maintaining near-zero transaction fees and settlement times of three to four seconds. Practical tests showcased at the "XRP Tokyo 2026" conference delivered even more compelling evidence. Cross-border payments on the network were shown to be roughly 60% cheaper than traditional SWIFT routes, with final settlement occurring in under four seconds. To bolster this efficiency, Ripple is expanding its On-Demand Liquidity service with twelve new currency pairs specifically targeting high-volume financial corridors between Japan and Southeast Asia.

The institutional infrastructure around XRP is maturing rapidly. Evernorth, a Ripple-backed company, is advancing a merger with a special purpose acquisition company with the goal of securing a Nasdaq listing under the ticker "XRPN." This entity is designed to function as a large-scale on-chain treasury vehicle. Demand for such exposure is already materializing. In the past week alone, approximately $120 million flowed into XRP-related exchange-traded products, accounting for about 53% of all global crypto product inflows. U.S. spot ETFs for XRP now manage around $1 billion in assets.

On the supply side, a slight tightening is underway. Exchange reserves for XRP have fallen to approximately 2.74 billion tokens, indicating a movement into private wallets or cold storage that reduces immediately available supply. This dynamic is reflected in a stable price of $1.36, with the token posting a modest weekly gain of 3.10%. The RLUSD stablecoin, which operates on the XRP Ledger, is approaching a market capitalization of $1.4 billion.

Ripple's leadership team has projected that on-chain stablecoin volume could surpass the $33 trillion mark this year. Live demonstrations at the Tokyo conference featured cross-border payments with a total volume exceeding $3.4 billion, highlighting the network's growing institutional relevance.
