Wendel executive board adds asset management chief, shares in Paris focus

French investment group Wendel strengthens its leadership team with a new executive board member for asset management, while the stock continues to trade on Euronext Paris as a diversified European holding.

Wendel (FR0000120966) has announced a change at the top of its management structure. The Paris-listed investment group strengthens its Executive Board with a new executive vice-president responsible for asset management, underlining its operational focus on portfolio performance across Europe as a Euronext Paris holding.

New asset management leader

According to Wendel’s June 17, 2026 press release, Cyril Marie has been appointed to the Executive Board and named Executive Vice-President in charge of Asset Management, joining Chairman Laurent Mignon and Group Deputy CEO David Darmon. The decision becomes effective on July 1, 2026, adding a dedicated asset management voice to the top leadership of the French investment company.

The appointment gives the Executive Board a clearer division of responsibilities between governance, executive management and asset allocation. Wendel positions itself as a long-term investor in European and international companies, and the new role aims to sharpen oversight of the group’s portfolio assets and capital deployment across sectors such as industrials, business services and consumer-related businesses.

Strategy focus at a European holding

Wendel is structured as an investment holding company that takes significant, often controlling, stakes in businesses including Bureau Veritas, Constantia Flexibles, and other industrial and service assets. In this framework, asset management at group level covers selection of new investments, performance monitoring of existing holdings and decisions on divestments or reinvestments to balance risk and return.

European holding peers such as Investor AB in Sweden and Eurazeo in France operate similar models, combining listed status with active portfolio management in operating companies. Wendel’s choice to add an executive vice-president focused on asset management reflects this active-owner approach, where governance and strategy are closely linked with capital allocation decisions in a diversified portfolio of operating businesses.
