Volatus Aerospace Corp. has announced a significant addition to its executive team, naming Krish Srinivasan as its new Chief Technology Officer. The Canadian drone and unmanned systems specialist made this strategic hire concurrent with a virtual investor briefing focused on Canada's defence policy.

Leadership and Strategic Timing

The appointment of Srinivasan, revealed in a company statement dated February 23, brings a leader with deep expertise to Volatus. His background spans over a decade in autonomous drone systems, counter-UAS (CUAS) technology, urban air mobility, and defence-adjacent innovation. His arrival aligns with a period of strategic focus for the company, as highlighted by CEO Glen Lynch and CFO Abhinav Singhvi during the investor presentation. They detailed opportunities within Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy and its Build-Partner-Buy framework, emphasizing sovereign capabilities in unmanned and autonomous systems—a direct link to the new CTO’s mandate.

A Profile of Technical Expertise

Srinivasan’s career is marked by leadership roles in substantial, funded programs. He has overseen three EU-funded defence and artificial intelligence initiatives with a combined value of approximately €40 million. Furthermore, he has managed UAS and CUAS programs worth about $35 million USD.

His technical contributions extend to policy development and pioneering demonstrations. Srinivasan participated in crafting INTERPOL's global counter-UAS assessment guidelines and led one of the first autonomous cross-border UAV flight demonstrations within integrated civil-military airspace.

In his new role, he will lead Volatus's unified engineering organization across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. His purview will encompass the company’s portfolio of platform-agnostic autonomy architecture, AI integration, counter-UAS systems, Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) and long-range Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms, and modular docking infrastructure.

A Month of Corporate Momentum

February proved to be an active period for Volatus beyond the CTO announcement. On February 18, the company was recognized on the TSX Venture 50 list, which highlights top-performing ventures. Its inclusion was based on a 279 percent share price appreciation and a 441 percent growth in market capitalization during 2025. This performance placed Volatus among the top three technology firms on the list and 16th overall among more than 1,600 TSXV issuers.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Volatus Aerospace?

The following day, February 19, Volatus disclosed a broad-based equity incentive grant. The company issued 5.6 million stock options and restricted share units to all 136 of its full-time employees, as well as to selected directors and officers. These equity awards will vest over a period of up to three years.

Operational Expansion and Financial Standing

The company also confirmed plans to establish manufacturing, assembly, and integration operations in Mirabel, Quebec. This follows an October 2025 announcement regarding a planned 200,000-square-foot innovation and manufacturing centre at the Montréal-Mirabel Airport.

Financially, Volatus reported strong third-quarter 2025 results. Revenue reached $10.6 million CAD, representing a 60 percent year-over-year increase. Nine-month revenues grew by 32 percent to $26.9 million CAD. The company achieved a gross margin of 33 percent, and its adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed by 52 percent to $661,000 CAD. As of September 30, 2025, Volatus held cash and equivalents of $17.3 million CAD.

Strategic Trajectory

The recruitment of a CTO with Srinivasan’s profile, combined with the Mirabel expansion and recent contract wins—including a $9 million CAD award from a NATO partner in December 2025—signals a clear strategic pivot toward sovereign defence capabilities. With the Canadian government’s emphasis on building domestic industrial capacity, the coming quarters will reveal Volatus’s ability to scale contract wins into sustainable manufacturing operations.
