VINCORION's Post-Stabilization Test: Strong Backers Meet a Skeptical Market

VINCORION's post-IPO price support ends April 23. Despite strong 2025 growth & institutional backing, its high P/E ratio shows market skepticism ahead of its first quarterly report.

The final safety net for defense supplier VINCORION's stock is set to vanish on April 23, concluding a critical 30-day post-IPO stabilization period managed by J.P. Morgan. The bank intervened several times after the shares fell below their €17.00 issue price, purchasing nearly 300,000 shares for approximately €5 million between March 27 and April 2 to prevent a steeper decline. With this support ending, the market will fully determine the equity's price for the first time, posing an immediate test for a stock that recently hit a new low of €15.32.

Despite the weak share price performance since its debut near €20, VINCORION's operational foundation has attracted significant institutional interest. Three major US fund managers—Fidelity, Invesco, and T. Rowe Price—are already anchored in the shareholder register. Invesco and T. Rowe Price each hold between 3.5% and 4.7% of the shares, following binding purchase commitments totalling €105 million made during the initial public offering.

The company's financial performance provides a rationale for this backing. In 2025, VINCORION increased revenue by 18% to €240.3 million. Its operating profit (EBIT) surged 64% to €33.7 million, while net profit nearly doubled to €19.4 million. A robust order backlog of €1.1 billion ensures years of visibility, supported by a maintenance and spare parts business that contributes 55% of revenue and provides recurring income.

Growth prospects are underpinned by key defense contracts. A NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) framework agreement, worth €60 million and running through 2030, involves modernizing PATRIOT power supply systems for several European nations. Concurrently, VINCORION is coordinating the EU-funded SENTINEL project, a €39.9 million initiative from the European Defence Fund involving 42 partners across 16 countries. Field tests for new mobile power generation modules are already underway, with further trials scheduled in the Netherlands and Aruba.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying VINCORION?

Management has set an ambitious target for 2026, forecasting revenue between €280 million and €320 million, which would represent growth of up to 33%. The first concrete evidence of progress towards this goal will come on May 7, when the company releases its inaugural quarterly report as a public entity.

A notable valuation gap exists relative to sector peers. Based on 2025 earnings, VINCORION trades at a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of approximately 46. This compares to 53 for RENK, 95 for HENSOLDT, and a multiple well over 100 for Rheinmetall, suggesting the market is pricing in significant skepticism.

Shareholder structure presents a mixed picture. While the backing of US funds is a positive, majority investor STAR Capital holds 52.82% of voting rights. A Greenshoe option related to this stake also expires on April 23. Although STAR Capital is prohibited from direct share sales until autumn 2026, a permanent drop of its holding below 50% could increase the free float. This might attract more institutional buyers but could also create near-term selling pressure. A further milestone arrives in the autumn when a 180-day lock-up period on STAR Capital's direct 47.5% stake expires.

VINCORION at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The coming weeks will separate market mechanics from business fundamentals. With the bank's stabilization efforts ending, VINCORION must now prove its operational story can support the share price independently. The upcoming quarterly figures in May will be the first major report card, determining whether the stock retests its recent lows or begins to close its valuation discount.
