A significant upgrade to Verbio's full-year earnings forecast has propelled the company's stock to new heights, signaling a robust operational turnaround backed by concrete financial progress.

Financial Performance Exceeds Expectations

In a market announcement on Wednesday, the biofuels producer substantially raised its EBITDA guidance for the current fiscal year. The company now anticipates earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization to reach between €100 million and €140 million. This marks a considerable increase from its previous outlook, which had pointed toward the upper end of a high double-digit million euro range.

This optimistic revision is attributed to multiple factors. Verbio cited persistently strong sales prices for low-emission biofuels, a supportive regulatory landscape, and broader geopolitical conditions as key drivers. The foundation for this upgrade was laid in the half-year results. Production of biodiesel and bioethanol climbed to over 618,000 tonnes, while group EBITDA tripled compared to the prior year period, reaching €45.5 million. This performance indicates a sustained positive trend rather than an isolated event.

Concurrently, the company is accelerating its debt reduction. Net financial debt is projected to fall to approximately €140 million by the end of the fiscal year, down from €164 million. This demonstrates that Verbio is not only benefiting from favorable market prices but is also strategically channeling cash flow into strengthening its balance sheet.

Strategic Projects Set to Fuel Future Growth

Alongside its strong core business performance, Verbio is advancing two major structural growth initiatives. In Bitterfeld, Germany, construction is underway on the world's first large-scale ethenolysis plant based on rapeseed methyl ester. With an investment volume of €80 to €100 million, the facility is slated to commence operations in the second half of 2026. It is expected to produce approximately 60,000 tonnes of renewable molecules annually for the chemical industry, including base materials for detergents, cleaning agents, and high-performance lubricants. The underlying technology utilizes olefin metathesis, for which Richard Schrock was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2005.

Simultaneously, a second U.S. production facility is launching in South Bend, Indiana. Following investments totaling $230 million, this plant is scheduled to begin operations in 2026, with a planned annual output of at least 250,000 tonnes of bioethanol and 850,000 megawatt-hours of biomethane. This expansion is poised to significantly reduce Verbio's reliance on the European market.

Market Reaction and Forward Outlook

The market responded immediately to the updated guidance. On Wednesday, Verbio's share price advanced by more than six percent, surpassing the recently raised price target set by Deutsche Bank. With a gain of roughly 99 percent since the start of the year, the equity reached a new 52-week high of €44.24.

Verbio at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The substantial range within the new EBITDA forecast—a spread of €40 million—nevertheless highlights that while Verbio's geopolitical environment is manageable, it remains unpredictable. A critical factor for the company's continued success will be the development of sales prices and margins in the second half of the year, particularly as both major capital projects transition into their operational phases.
