The Purpose Ether ETF - USD ETF Non-Currency Hedged is expanding its investment thesis beyond simple price appreciation. In a strategic development for the fund, which launched in 2021, a full-scale Ether staking implementation is now being leveraged to generate supplementary returns directly from the Ethereum network.

A Shift Towards Active Network Participation

Purpose Investments, the asset manager behind the ETF, initiated the active staking of the fund's Ether holdings in late January 2026. This process utilizes the Ethereum blockchain's proof-of-stake consensus mechanism to produce an additional yield. The legal groundwork enabling this move was established months earlier, when shareholders approved a corresponding staking service fee in October 2025.

This initiative is designed to provide investors with value beyond potential capital gains from Ether's price movement. The ETF serves as a convenient alternative to a direct, hands-on investment, handling the technical intricacies of staking on behalf of its holders. Simultaneously, the underlying assets continue to be held in secure, physically segregated cold storage.

Maintaining a Prudent Core Strategy

Despite integrating this new revenue-generating feature, the fund's foundational approach remains unchanged. A conservative custody methodology is still paramount. The strategy does not involve employing derivatives for speculative purposes, and the long-term objective of capital appreciation continues to be the primary focus. The staking component acts as a complementary layer to this core philosophy, aiming to enhance overall returns without altering the product's fundamental risk profile.
