Ubtech Robotics Charts Course Through Strategic Supply Chain Expansion
06.04.2026 - 00:47:10 | boerse-global.de
A pivotal deadline approaches for Ubtech Robotics, with a takeover offer for precision manufacturer Zhejiang Fenglong Electric set to expire on April 20. This move is a core component of a broader corporate strategy aimed at establishing a robust foundation for the mass production of its Walker S2 humanoid robot.
Financial Performance Fuels Strategic Moves
The company’s ambitious investment plans are backed by a strengthened financial position revealed in its 2025 fiscal year results. Total revenue surged by 53% to reach 2 billion Renminbi. Concurrently, the net loss was reduced by 32%, narrowing to 789.8 million Renminbi. A significant improvement was seen in the gross margin, which expanded from 29% to 38%.
A standout figure was the explosive growth in full-scale humanoid robot revenue, which skyrocketed by 2,203%. This growth started from a relatively low base of 35.6 million Renminbi the previous year. Unit sales jumped to 1,079 in 2025, a dramatic increase from just three units sold in 2024. Management is targeting a gross margin between 40% and 43% for 2026.
Building a Supply Chain Foundation
The acquisition of Fenglong is central to Ubtech's production scaling efforts. The process began on March 11, 2026, when Ubtech secured an initial 29.99% stake in the company. A public tender offer for an additional 13.02% followed just nine days later, priced at 17.72 Renminbi per share. Full acceptance would raise Ubtech's total holding to 43.01%.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ubtech Robotics?
Shareholders overwhelmingly approved the transaction, with over 98% of votes cast in favor. Fenglong supplies motors and hydraulic components to major industrial firms including Husqvarna, Caterpillar, and Bosch Rexroth. Ubtech intends to integrate this specialized expertise directly into its manufacturing operations. Upon completion, Fenglong would become Ubtech’s first subsidiary listed on China’s domestic A-share market.
Digital Partnership and Production Ambitions
Running parallel to this acquisition, Ubtech signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Siemens Digital Industries Software on March 16 in Shenzhen. The collaboration aims to establish an annual production capacity of 10,000 units by 2026. It focuses on implementing a comprehensive digital thread using Siemens' PLM and manufacturing software. This system will allow Ubtech to manage the robot's entire development cycle through a digital twin.
The anticipated economies of scale are substantial. The price of a Walker S2, currently around $80,000, could potentially fall to approximately $20,000 by 2027. Furthermore, a strategy to localize 90% of the supply chain within China is projected to reduce manufacturing costs by 20% to 30% annually.
Market Position, Competition, and Risks
On the commercial front, pilot programs are underway with electric vehicle maker NIO and at a highly automated FAW-Volkswagen plant. Aerospace giant Airbus is testing the Walker S2 in aircraft assembly, while Texas Instruments utilizes it in semiconductor manufacturing. Ubtech plans to deliver roughly 5,000 robots in 2026, with a goal of 10,000 units in 2027.
The competitive landscape is intensifying. Tesla aims to commence production of its Optimus 3 robot in the summer of 2026, and Chinese rival D-Robotics recently secured $120 million in a funding round. Ubtech has acknowledged that the current efficiency of the Walker S2 is only half that of a human worker, though it targets improving this metric to 80% by 2027.
Ubtech Robotics at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.
Market observers note additional risk factors, including a high valuation at 22.1 times revenue and outstanding receivables totaling 1.3 billion Renminbi.
As the Fenglong tender offer deadline passes, the effectiveness of Ubtech's supply chain integration will soon be tested. Its success is crucial for supporting the company's ambitious delivery targets for the coming year.
