Targa Exploration is gearing up for a significant operational move in South America, with its first drilling program at the El Zanjon project in Argentina scheduled to commence in the first half of 2026. This upcoming work is drawing investor attention due to the property's perceived geological similarities to a major precious metals mine in the Santa Cruz region.

Strategic Board Appointment Bolsters South American Expertise

In a move to strengthen its leadership for these efforts, the company appointed Bryce Roxburgh to its board in early March. Roxburgh contributes over five decades of mineral discovery experience. He played a leading role in the discovery of the Cerro Moro project, which is located within the same Argentine province as Targa's current holdings. His specific regional knowledge is considered a valuable asset for the planned Argentine activities.

The El Zanjon Project: Positioned on a Promising Trend

Covering approximately 57,276 hectares, the El Zanjon project is situated roughly 30 kilometers south of the historically prolific Cerro Vanguardia gold and silver mine. Previous geological and geophysical surveys suggest El Zanjon may lie on the same regional structural trend as its notable neighbor. The drilling planned for the coming months represents the first systematic test to determine if these indications hold true.

Maintaining Focus on Canadian Assets

Alongside its South American ambitions, Targa continues to advance its Opinaca gold project in Quebec, Canada. A 2025 drill campaign there successfully identified widespread gold mineralization. This dual focus reflects the company's strategy of targeting early-stage exploration in established mining jurisdictions.

The current operational priority is mobilizing resources for the El Zanjon initiative. Progress from the drilling there, expected by the end of the second quarter of 2026, will be critical in assessing whether the identified geological targets meet expectations. The combination of seasoned leadership and imminent field data marks a new phase of development for the explorer.
