While the development of humanoid robots presents immense technical challenges, scaling their manufacturing to industrial levels is an entirely different hurdle. Ubtech Robotics is addressing this critical phase through a newly forged partnership. The company announced a strategic cooperation agreement with Siemens Industrial Software, signed in Shenzhen on March 16, to bring the German industrial giant's expertise into its operations.

Scaling Ambitions Meet Industrial Reality

The collaboration has a clear, quantified objective: to achieve an annual production capacity of 10,000 humanoid robots by the end of 2026. To reach this ambitious target, Siemens will deploy its comprehensive industrial software portfolio. This includes tools for product design, simulation, process planning, and manufacturing management. For a product as intricate as a humanoid robot—a fusion of precision mechanics, artificial intelligence, and motion control systems far more complex than standard industrial arms—digitizing the entire production workflow is not optional; it is a fundamental necessity.

Beyond software, Siemens will provide technical training and support to prepare Ubtech's workforce for high-volume manufacturing. The two firms also intend to collaborate on market development and fostering a broader industrial ecosystem for humanoid robotics.

Strong Demand Contrasts with Operational Hurdles

Market interest in Ubtech's technology is demonstrably strong. In 2025, the company's order book for humanoid robots surpassed 1.4 billion yuan. Early adopters include aerospace giant Airbus, which is testing the Walker S2 model in aircraft assembly, and Texas Instruments, which employs it within semiconductor fabrication plants.

Despite this demand, Ubtech acknowledged in January 2026 that the current efficiency of its Walker S2 robot maxes out at just half that of a human worker. The company's roadmap aims to boost this figure to 80% by 2027. This efficiency drive must coincide with a dramatic production ramp-up, from approximately 500 units in the previous year to the targeted 10,000. Key technical challenges, particularly in dexterity, motion control, and multi-functional hand design, remain to be solved to bridge this gap.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Ubtech Robotics?

Competitive Landscape Intensifies

External competitive pressure is mounting rapidly. Tesla has outlined plans to begin production of its Optimus 3 robot in the summer of 2026, targeting mass manufacturing for 2027. Meanwhile, Chinese firm D-Robotics recently secured $120 million in a funding round, bringing its total capital raised to $220 million earmarked for building a full-stack robotics platform.

Ubtech's own financial metrics tell a story of growth under pressure. While revenues have been expanding at an average annual rate of 12.3%, profits have conversely been shrinking by an average of 8% per year. This tension is reflected in the company's share price, which has declined roughly 26% since the start of the year and currently trades at a 52-week low. The upcoming annual report will be scrutinized for evidence that Ubtech can build a credible bridge between its growing order intake and a path to improved profitability.
