Steyr Motors Charts New Course with Boardroom Reshuffle

Steyr Motors nominates new supervisory board leaders with defense and finance expertise to guide strategy following a key acquisition and major shareholder exit.

The supervisory board of Steyr Motors AG is undergoing a significant transformation, a direct result of recent shifts in its shareholder base. This strategic realignment brings two seasoned professionals from industry and finance into leadership roles, a move that aligns precisely with the company's latest expansion phase.

New Leadership for a New Strategic Direction

Following the complete divestment of its stake by former major shareholder Mutares SE & Co. KGaA in November of last year, the investor's representatives will not stand for re-election at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. The assembly is scheduled for April 10.

In their place, the company's management has put forward the nominations of Rolf Wirtz and Gerhard Schwartz. Wirtz, the former CEO of defense contractor TKMS, is slated to assume the role of board chairman. Schwartz is expected to contribute his specialized knowledge of the Austrian capital markets.

Aligning Expertise with Recent Acquisition

The nomination of Wirtz, with his deep background in defense and marine sectors, dovetails strategically with Steyr Motors' recent operational moves. Last month, the company strengthened its international marine and defense market position through the acquisition of Danish engine manufacturer BUKH A/S.

This strategic pivot is supported by the recently published annual report, which forecasts an acceleration in growth for the current year. Investors have responded favorably to these developments; the company's shares recorded notable gains in yesterday's trading session.

The final decision on the new supervisory board appointments will be made at the Ordinary Annual General Meeting on April 10. By electing these new members, Steyr Motors will formally conclude the personnel restructuring initiated after Mutares's exit, while securing the crucial industry expertise needed to integrate its latest acquisition.
