Stellantis is moving to consolidate its executive structure in North America, appointing a single leader to oversee three of its key brands. This strategic shift follows the abrupt departure of Chrysler brand CEO Chris Feuell and comes as the automotive group faces significant operational headwinds in this crucial overseas market.

Stock Performance Reflects Operational Strain

The challenges confronting Stellantis are being mirrored in its equity performance. The company's shares closed Friday's trading session at €6.18, hovering just above the current 52-week low of €6.17 recorded on February 6, 2026. Since the start of the calendar year, the stock has declined by approximately 36.6 percent, underscoring investor concern over the group's near-term prospects.

A Unified Command for Three Brands

Effective immediately, Dodge CEO Matt McAlear will assume leadership of the Chrysler, Dodge, and Alfa Romeo brands in North America. While Feuell's exit is attributed to personal reasons, McAlear's expanded role is designed to streamline operations across the mainstream and premium segments in the region.

This leadership consolidation is a direct response to a difficult market environment. The Alfa Romeo brand is under particular pressure, having suffered a steep 36 percent decline in North American sales for the 2025 calendar year. By unifying command, Stellantis aims to establish more efficient decision-making processes and improve coordination between the brands to address these setbacks.

Chrysler Seeks Momentum Ahead of New Models

The Chrysler brand currently finds itself in a stable but stagnant position. Sales have plateaued recently, a situation market observers largely attribute to a narrow product lineup. The brand's offerings are presently almost entirely reliant on the Pacifica and Voyager minivan models.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Stellantis?

A key question is whether the new leadership structure can generate necessary momentum before next-generation vehicles arrive. An updated version of the Pacifica minivan is not anticipated until 2027. In the interim, McAlear's team must maintain sales with existing models while simultaneously engineering an operational turnaround for Alfa Romeo.

The appointment underscores the intense focus on efficiency at Stellantis. With the next-generation Pacifica still years away, the immediate priority is to arrest the severe sales slump at Alfa Romeo and stabilize operational performance across the North American business unit.
