Germany requires electrical workers to see a doctor after any accident, per updated VDE standards. First aid courses for workplace compliance and specialized training are scheduled across the country for 2026.

Workers who handle live electrical systems in Germany face a strict medical requirement: after any electrical accident, no matter how minor it seems, a doctor visit is mandatory. That clear directive stands at the center of a new annual instruction session scheduled for June 11, 2026, in Weimar, where electrical specialists will review updated VDE standards for 2025/2026 and practice emergency response tailored to electrical injuries. The session is one of many specialized first-aid courses running across the country as companies prepare for their legally mandated training quotas under Germany’s DGUV Regulation 1.

Beyond the electrical-focus groups, the basic first-aid course remains the foundation for workplace compliance. It consists of nine teaching units of 45 minutes each—a format that serves double duty: it qualifies future drivers for their license and meets the requirement for workplace first aiders. The German Red Cross (DRK) in Münster, for instance, will offer these courses in the second half of 2026 at locations such as Cheruskerring and Sperlichstraße, charging €60 per participant. Other providers like M-A-U-S cover Nagold, Herrenberg and Tübingen with certifications valid under Germany’s Driver Licensing Ordinance (FeV), while the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) in Hannover offers both initial and refresher courses—ASB members attend one session per year free of charge.

Just as mandatory first aid training helps close gaps in emergency preparedness, keeping thorough risk assessments is essential for workplace safety compliance. Several training organizations now also cater to specific professional groups. The DRK in Dresden runs courses on pediatric emergencies designed for nursery school teachers, primary school educators and parents. These sessions, priced from €49.80, run from June through December 2026 at various venues around Dresden and meet DGUV Regulation 1 guidelines. Meanwhile, in Eltville on June 17, a dedicated workshop will address emergencies involving babies and toddlers, including CPR and poisoning management.

The industry is also embracing new technology. At the INTERSCHUTZ trade fair in Hannover, the Johanniter-Akademie demonstrated virtual-reality simulations for paramedics and emergency medical technicians—a trend that could gradually find its way into routine workplace training.

For those needing quick qualification, June 2026 offers multiple opportunities. Courses in Berlin-Pankow on the 6th and 13th of June welcome participants aged 16 and older, covering everything from wound care to resuscitation. The Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) district association in Lichtenfels holds a basic course on June 6, with additional dates later in the year. Most registrations are handled online through district association portals or directly via the training provider. Many local adult education centers (Volkshochschulen)—for example those in the Groß-Gerau district or the Wetterau region—have already published their second-half 2026 programs.
