Lily Liu, President of the Solana Foundation, framed the broader vision, arguing that blockchain's inherent strength lies in financial applications and markets. She envisions a future where assets are fundamentally tokenized on-chain.

Notably, Liu emphasized Asia's central role in this evolution, describing it as a "core market" for cryptocurrency due to its historical engagement with Bitcoin and substantial user base. She also highlighted a critical shift in project evaluation, suggesting that governance tokens should be secondary to revenue and usage metrics that reflect genuine network activity.

A Concrete Step: DB Securities and the STO Framework

The most tangible development toward this institutional future came from DB Securities. The South Korean firm used the conference to detail its strategy for Security Token Offerings (STOs), anchored by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with the Solana Foundation on February 5th.

The agreement establishes a collaborative framework to develop a digital capital market based on tokenized securities. Key joint initiatives include:
* Identifying suitable underlying assets for STOs, both within Korea and internationally.
* Collaborating on the financial structuring of these products.
* Examining the processes for issuing and distributing STOs via Solana's public blockchain.

DB Securities outlined a dual-track approach: creating regulatory-compliant products for the Korean market while simultaneously exploring global market structures through technical cooperation with Solana. The ultimate goal is to develop tradeable STO products integrated with real-world markets, leveraging the firm's own investment banking division. A Solana Foundation representative for Korea characterized STOs as a quintessential use case where public blockchains and institutional finance converge.

Ecosystem Support: SafePal's Developer Incentives

Parallel to these capital markets ambitions, concrete support for the developer ecosystem was announced. On February 9th, wallet provider SafePal unveiled a $3 million incentive program dedicated to the Solana ecosystem. The allocation designates $2 million for hardware wallet sponsorship and $1 million for marketing resources, all directed toward qualified Solana projects.

During the conference, SafePal also distributed 1,500 limited-edition Solana hardware wallets to attendees, VIPs, and key contributors. The selection of projects to benefit from the funding will be based on measurable criteria such as Monthly Active Users (MAU), Total Value Locked (TVL), and community impact metrics.
