Solana's Diverging Path: Robust Network Activity Contrasts With Price Weakness

Solana's blockchain sees record growth in stablecoins, DEX volume, and institutional use, even as its SOL token faces significant technical selling pressure.

While Solana's native token faces significant selling pressure on the charts, the underlying blockchain is experiencing unprecedented growth and institutional adoption. This divergence between price action and fundamental strength presents a complex picture for the asset.

Institutional Adoption Gains Momentum

Recent structural developments are laying the groundwork for accelerated long-term use. The launch of the Solana Developer Platform on March 24 provides an API infrastructure for financial institutions aiming to scale tokenized deposits and real-world asset solutions directly on the chain. Early adopters include major players like Mastercard, Worldpay, and Western Union.

Furthermore, the integration of the Machine Payments Protocol by Stripe and Tempo now allows APIs to utilize Solana-based stablecoins as a payment channel. This positions the network as a settlement layer for automated microtransactions and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. On the investment front, recent 13F filings reveal that investment advisors hold spot Solana ETFs valued at approximately $270 million. Since their introduction in July 2025, these funds have seen net inflows of $1.5 billion with no significant outflows. Additional regulatory clarity was provided on March 22, when the SEC classified SOL as a commodity, a move that clarifies the legal landscape for U.S. investors.

Operational Metrics Hit Record Highs

The network is operating at full capacity despite market headwinds. At the Blockworks Digital Asset Summit in New York, Vibhu Norby, Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation, disclosed that the blockchain has already processed 15 million payments from AI agents this year. Stablecoins are increasingly becoming the preferred settlement instrument for these transactions—covering computational power, services, and machine-to-machine interactions. Norby projected that between 95% and 99% of all future crypto transactions could be initiated by Large Language Models.

In parallel, the supply of stablecoins on the chain reached a new all-time high of $17.4 billion. Decentralized exchange (DEX) volume alone amounted to roughly $59.94 billion over the past 30 days. Solana's blockchain currently processes an estimated 44% of the world's total crypto transaction volume.

Technical Outlook Shows Bearish Signals

The price chart tells a different story. After failing at the resistance area around $93, a "Bearish Flag" pattern has emerged on the daily chart—a technical signal often indicating further short-term selling pressure. The asset is currently trading approximately 40% below its 200-day moving average, underscoring the depth of the ongoing downtrend.

However, on-chain data from Ali Charts points to a significant support zone: over 100 million SOL were recently transferred within the price range of $82.60 to $91.45. A failure for the price to hold this zone would bring levels around $53 into focus as the next potential support. The fundamental case for Solana continues to strengthen, but the market price has yet to reflect this growth.
