Significant Rare Earths Discovery Bolsters Apex Critical Metals Project
08.04.2026 - 05:56:12 | boerse-global.de
Exploration company Apex Critical Metals has released initial 2026 drill results from its Rift project in Nebraska, marking a substantial step forward in the search for domestic sources of rare earth elements in the United States. The findings not only indicate a mineralized zone far larger than previous estimates but also reveal an exceptionally high concentration of the most commercially valuable components.
Strategic Importance and Market Recognition
The discovery reinforces the strategic aim of establishing an independent U.S. supply chain for critical minerals. This objective gained formal recognition in February 2026 when Apex was admitted into the U.S. Defense Industrial Base Consortium, highlighting the geopolitical significance of domestic deposits. Investor interest in this strategic positioning is reflected in the equity's longer-term performance. The stock has gained approximately 122 percent over the past year, closing yesterday at a price of €1.31.
Drill Results Exceed Expectations
Data from drill hole RIFT26-002, presented this Tuesday, delivered several positive surprises. The drilling extended the known mineralized boundary by roughly 100 meters to the south. When combined with historical data, the results now outline a strike length exceeding 700 meters, with the zone remaining open in all directions. A highlight of the assay results is an 81.6-meter interval averaging 2.02 percent total rare earth oxides (REO).
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Apex Critical Metals?
The most critical aspect of the find, however, lies in the material's specific composition. Samples identified a highly enriched zone containing neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr). Across a ten-meter section, the NdPr content constituted 49 percent of the total rare earth oxides. This ratio dramatically surpasses the typical range of 14 to 20 percent found in comparable deposits. These two elements are essential for manufacturing high-performance permanent magnets used in electric vehicles and wind turbines, meaning their concentration is a primary driver of the project's potential economic value.
Expanded Program Underway
The current drilling campaign is ongoing. To date, eight holes have been completed, with laboratory results for seven of them—covering a total of 5,266 meters—still pending. Encouraged by the initial results, company management plans to expand the first phase of drilling. Data arriving in the coming weeks will be integrated directly into an updated geological 3D model. This model will be used to precisely define the next target zones for NdPr enrichment within the project area.
