Siemens Healthineers Shares Sink to New Low as Tariffs and China Headwinds Cloud Q2 Outlook

28.04.2026 - 10:20:32 | boerse-global.de

Siemens Healthineers shares hit a 52-week low of €35.61 as analysts expect a 16% EPS drop, tariffs cost €400M, and China reforms pressure diagnostics. Technicals flash oversold.

The medical technology company has seen its stock slide to a 52-week trough of €35.61, extending year-to-date losses to nearly 20%. With the shares now trading around €35.67, the gap between management's ambitions and market sentiment has rarely been wider.

Earnings expectations point lower

When Siemens Healthineers reports second-quarter results in early May, analysts are bracing for a 16% drop in adjusted earnings per share to €0.51, compared with €0.56 in the same period last year. The first quarter already set a cautious tone: while revenues rose 3.8%, adjusted EPS fell 3% to €0.49.

The diagnostics division remains the primary drag. It shrank 3% in the first quarter, a decline management attributes to China's anti-corruption campaign and sweeping procurement reforms. Those headwinds show no signs of easing, and the second-quarter figures will test whether any stabilization is underway.

Tariff burden weighs on full-year targets

For the full fiscal year, the company faces an estimated €400 million hit from tariffs alone, with negative currency effects adding up to €250 million on top of that. Despite these pressures, management is sticking to its revenue growth target of 5% to 6% on a comparable basis.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Healthineers?

The adjusted EPS forecast of €2.20 to €2.40 compares with €2.39 last year, leaving little margin for error. The May report will serve as a critical checkpoint for whether those numbers remain achievable.

Technical indicators flash oversold

The stock's decline has been relentless. It now sits nearly 19% below its 200-day moving average, while the relative strength index has fallen to 31.6 — territory that typically signals extreme selling pressure. Yet analyst targets remain optimistic: RBC Capital Markets sees fair value at €55, Jefferies at €60, and JPMorgan at €61.30, all predicated on expected annual earnings growth of roughly 11% to 12%.

Structural overhaul gathers pace

Behind the quarterly noise, a deeper transformation is taking shape. Siemens shareholders will vote in February 2027 on transferring 30% of the Healthineers stake, which would reduce the parent company's holding from around 67% to roughly 37%. The longer-term goal is to bring that stake below 20%.

Siemens Healthineers at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

A recent milestone came when Moody's assigned an investment-grade rating of "A3" to Healthineers, opening the door to independent capital market financing without backing from its Munich parent. The company is also focusing its portfolio on higher-margin areas such as oncology and AI-powered diagnostics.

The second-quarter report will determine whether the stock can mount a recovery or faces another test of its recent lows. Two questions loom largest: how deeply China's diagnostics slowdown cuts into earnings, and whether management can show concrete progress on a potential sale of the troubled division.
