Siemens Energy Shares Retreat Following Strong Rally
07.03.2026 - 03:44:53 | boerse-global.deAfter a period of significant gains, Siemens Energy stock has entered a corrective phase. The equity recorded notable declines in Thursday and Friday's sessions, closing Friday's trading down 4.18 percent at 149 euros. The weekly loss now stands at nearly 10 percent.
Consolidation After a Meteoric Rise
This pullback arrives on the heels of a substantial rally. Since the start of the year, the share price has advanced more than 21 percent. Zooming out to a twelve-month view reveals an even more dramatic surge of 158 percent. The energy technology group has been a major beneficiary of the global artificial intelligence megatrend, which has highlighted energy infrastructure due to the massive power demands of data centers. Both the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) project a sharp rise in electricity consumption.
Market participants now appear to be securing profits following the steep ascent. Technical indicators suggest the move was overextended, with a Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading of 85.4 pointing to overheated conditions. From its 52-week high of 169.20 euros, reached on February 25, the stock has retreated approximately 12 percent.
Underlying Fundamentals Remain Supportive
Despite the recent price weakness, the company has delivered several positive developments. Early March brought the announcement of its inclusion in the prestigious Stoxx Europe 50 index—a significant milestone for the former problem child of the Siemens group. Furthermore, the management board has approved a new share buyback program, widely interpreted as a vote of confidence in the firm's future trajectory.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?
Regulatory tailwinds also persist. States in eastern Germany are currently formulating a joint position on wind power regulations, a policy development that could positively influence Siemens Energy's business outlook.
Analysts often view such periods of consolidation as healthy following a powerful rally. The long-term growth drivers, primarily fueled by the insatiable energy needs of AI infrastructure, continue to be firmly in place.
