Siemens Energy Rebrands to Omterra, Saves €300M Annually in Licensing Fees

The name Siemens Energy is set to disappear from the stock exchange within 18 months, replaced by the new brand Omterra in the second half of 2026. Behind the rebranding lies a simple financial logic: the ten-year licensing agreement with the Siemens AG, which costs the company roughly €300 million annually, will be terminated early. CEO Christian Bruch confirmed that the move does not signal any shift in strategy, but rather reflects the group's growing financial and operational independence since its spin-off in 2020.

Analysts have been quick to pencil in the savings. Jefferies maintained a Buy rating with a €215 price target, estimating that the elimination of licensing fees alone could boost margins by 0.9 percentage points. JPMorgan struck an even more bullish tone, reaffirming its Overweight stance and raising its target to €235 — well above current trading levels. The shares recently changed hands at €148.88, down 2.92% on the day, after slipping 4.32% over the past 30 days. That leaves the stock roughly 24% below its 52-week high of €195.54 set in April 2026, though it remains 82% above the September 2025 trough of €84.62.

The longer-term trend remains firmly positive. The equity has gained 21.24% since the start of the year and 61.90% over the past twelve months according to one recent assessment, while another data set puts those figures at 25.39% and 67.44% respectively — both reflecting strong appreciation. The current market capitalisation stands at €129.43 billion. Technically, the shares sit below the 50-day moving average of €163.08 (or €163.18 per some calculations) but still above the 200-day average of around €143.65, suggesting a neutral-to-slightly-bearish near-term bias rather than any extreme oversold condition.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Siemens Energy?

Operational momentum provides a solid foundation for the rebrand. Siemens Energy raised its full-year guidance after a strong second quarter, now targeting comparable revenue growth of 14% to 16%, an adjusted EBITA margin between 10% and 12%, net income of roughly €4 billion, and free cash flow before taxes of around €8 billion. The upgrade was driven by better-than-expected performance in the Grid Technologies division as well as robust order intake from the United States. Meanwhile, the integration of wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa into the single Omterra brand is proceeding in parallel.

The project pipeline continues to expand. Delfin Midstream has given the green light for four SGT-750 gas turbines and a refrigerant compressor for a second floating LNG vessel off the coast of Louisiana, with a final investment decision targeted by the end of 2026. On the ground in Mexico, Siemens Energy is scaling up its "Competence Center Americas" in Querétaro to 750 employees by 2026 and 1,000 by 2028.

Sector-wide tailwinds have also lent support. ABB's strong quarterly results — an operating margin of 20.2% versus a consensus of 19.9%, orders of 12.04 billion Swiss francs (+15% above expectations), and the announced acquisition of UK valve specialist Rotork — lifted the entire electrification and energy technology space. ABB shares gained 4.2% on Tradegate, while both Siemens and Siemens Energy rose 1.2% in tandem. For investors, the message is clear: the underlying demand for grid and industrial electrification remains robust, and Siemens Energy's move to an independent brand is arriving at a time when its financial firepower and project visibility have rarely been stronger.
