RTX Secures Multi-Billion Dollar Satellite Contract from U.S. Air Force
18.03.2026 - 06:01:13 | boerse-global.de
RTX’s defense subsidiary, Raytheon, has been awarded a contract modification valued at $2.01 billion by the U.S. Air Force. This funding is allocated to the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite communications program, a critical component of U.S. military infrastructure designed to provide secure, jam-resistant communications for strategic command forces. With this latest increment, the total contract value now stands at approximately $2.97 billion.
Strategic Program Extends Through 2031
The AEHF initiative represents a long-standing partnership rather than a new venture for RTX. The current contract modification builds upon a framework agreement established in 2021, formally extending the collaboration through August 2031. Work will focus on the procurement of hardware and software for the system's terminal infrastructure. Primary operations will be conducted at the company’s facilities in Marlborough, Massachusetts, and Largo, Florida.
According to the March 13 announcement, funding for the contract modification has not yet been obligated. The disclosure primarily outlines the expanded contractual scope and financial ceiling.
Defense Sector Momentum and Broader Initiatives
This substantial award aligns with a broader trend of rising defense expenditures, particularly in areas like strategic communications and missile defense. RTX has reported a record-high order backlog, and contracts of this magnitude contribute significantly to long-term revenue visibility for the aerospace and defense giant.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying RTX?
Concurrently, RTX is engaged in other advanced technology projects. The company is testing new electric motor drive systems for hybrid propulsion technologies as part of the European Clean Aviation SWITCH program.
On the markets, RTX shares have advanced roughly ten percent since the start of the year. The stock currently trades about three percent below its 52-week high.
