RTX's Dual-Engine Growth Strategy Gains Momentum
17.03.2026 - 05:36:54 | boerse-global.deRTX Corporation is demonstrating the strength of its two-pronged business model, with both its commercial aerospace and defense divisions delivering tangible progress. This balanced approach sees its Collins Aerospace unit investing in next-generation aviation technology, while the Raytheon division secures the present with substantial, long-term government contracts.
Defense Division Secures Major Contracts and Expands Capacity
The company's defense operations, Raytheon, recently announced two significant developments. On March 13, the U.S. Air Force confirmed a contract modification worth $2.01 billion for the production of Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) terminals. This adjustment brings the total contract value to approximately $2.97 billion, with performance extending through August 2031.
Also on March 13, Raytheon marked the completion of a $115 million expansion at its Redstone Missile Integration Facility in Huntsville, Alabama. The project added roughly 25,800 square feet, boosting the site's missile integration and delivery capacity by more than 50%.
Collins Aerospace Advances Hybrid-Electric Flight Technology
On the commercial front, Collins Aerospace is deeply involved in pioneering sustainable aviation. Since March 16, the company's high-power laboratory, known as "The Grid," in Rockford, Illinois, has been conducting initial tests for the EU-funded Clean Aviation SWITCH project. The work involves evaluating electric motor drive systems and a complete hybrid-electric propulsion subsystem, which includes controls, power distribution, and two megawatt-class motor generators.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying RTX?
The objective is to validate core systems destined for integration into a full-scale hybrid demonstrator, based on the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine. This research is squarely focused on achieving fuel savings for future short- and medium-range aircraft—a priority gaining urgency for regulators in Europe and worldwide.
Stock Performance Reflects Robust Fundamentals
RTX's equity is currently trading near its 52-week high of €181.48, having advanced approximately 80% since April 2025. This strong performance underscores investor confidence in the company's growing order backlog. With a full pipeline in defense and active technology programs in the commercial sector, RTX has clear growth drivers for both segments. The upcoming quarterly results will serve as the next key indicator, revealing how swiftly these strategic investments are translating into revenue and margin improvement.
