Rocket Lab USA concluded its 2025 fiscal year with unprecedented results, establishing a powerful foundation for its 2026 campaign. The company is demonstrating a clear evolution from a niche small-satellite launch provider into a broader space infrastructure player, driven by record revenue, an expanding order backlog, and an accelerated launch tempo.

Strategic Milestones and Financial Backbone

The financial results for 2025 provide a solid base: revenue climbed 38% to approximately $602 million, while the firm's backlog surged 73% to $1.85 billion. The year saw Rocket Lab execute 21 launches with a 100% success rate. A significant highlight was securing a Space Development Agency (SDA) contract valued at $816 million, marking the largest single award in the company's history.

Looking ahead, management forecasts Q1 2026 revenue to land between $185 million and $200 million. Investors are advised to note the full-year 2025 net loss of nearly $198 million, a metric that remains relevant even as revenue growth and the robust backlog command significant market attention.

Diversification and the Neutron Timeline

Operationally, Rocket Lab showcased its agility in early March 2026 by completing two successful missions from different hemispheres within six days. Its 83rd Electron mission deployed a commercial satellite into a 470-kilometer orbit from New Zealand. Shortly prior, a HASTE hypersonic test mission launched from Virginia, featuring the scramjet-powered DART AE vehicle from Hypersonix. This marked the second such mission for the U.S. Department of Defense in a three-month span.

The company is also branching into new technological areas. It recently unveiled silicon-based solar modules designed for gigawatt-capable, space-based data centers. Furthermore, a CHIPS Act grant of $23.9 million will support the expansion of its semiconductor production capabilities in Albuquerque. The acquisition of Optical Support, Inc. adds precision optics manufacturing for defense and aerospace programs to its portfolio.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Rocket Lab USA?

The central strategic project remains the Neutron rocket. This medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle is designed to carry payloads of up to 13,000 kilograms to low Earth orbit, targeting significantly larger markets than the current Electron platform. Following a setback during a tank test for the first-stage structure, the inaugural launch has been rescheduled to the fourth quarter of 2026. This date is viewed as a critical milestone for the company's long-term revenue trajectory.

Corporate Calendar and Forward Outlook

On the corporate governance front, Rocket Lab has scheduled its Annual Meeting of Shareholders for May 20, 2026—over 30 days earlier than the previous year. Shareholders seeking to submit proposals or nominate directors must do so by March 22, 2026.

The SDA Tranche 3 contract, with a total potential value of $805 million, provides the Space Systems division with a substantial revenue base for the second half of the year. A successful maiden flight of the Neutron rocket within the targeted Q4 2026 window would represent the next structural leap forward in the company's growth narrative.
