As Ripple's leadership convenes in Tokyo to promote institutional use of its network, the market presents a contradictory picture. The ongoing conference is providing modest price support and reinforcing Japan's strategic importance, yet significant Wall Street capital remains hesitant due to persistent regulatory uncertainty in the United States.

Technical Consolidation Reflects Market Caution

The current technical landscape for XRP underscores a waiting game. Price action shows an extreme tightening of exponential moving averages (EMAs) around the $1.32 level. This compression coincides with a dramatic cooling of speculative interest, evidenced by a plunge in XRP futures open interest from $10.8 billion to $2.4 billion. Market observers point to a key upcoming event for potential catalysts: a scheduled committee review of the CLARITY Act by the U.S. Senate in the latter half of April.

Asian Market Provides Growth Engine

Positive momentum is emanating from Asia, where a roughly five percent price increase aligned with the opening of the XRP Tokyo 2026 conference. The event's agenda focuses on real-world asset (RWA) tokenization and expanding DeFi applications. Japan has solidified its role as a critical testing ground, a status built on the long-standing partnership between Ripple and SBI Holdings. A clear signal of growing acceptance within traditional Asian finance came in February, when SBI issued a blockchain-based bond that distributes returns to investors in XRP.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying XRP?

Supporting this institutional push, Ripple's developers are prioritizing network stability. Just last week, the company integrated native on-chain capabilities into its enterprise treasury management system. This upgrade allows corporate clients to manage both fiat and digital currencies from a single dashboard.

U.S. Regulatory Uncertainty Deters Major Investment

In stark contrast to Asian developments, major investors in the United States are exercising pronounced caution. Assets under management for XRP-focused exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have declined from $1.65 billion in January to approximately $1 billion. Data from Bloomberg Intelligence reveals that the ETF market is currently dominated by retail investors, who account for 84% of the activity.

A recent survey conducted by Coinbase and EY-Parthenon among institutional investors clarifies the reason for this reluctance. The findings indicate that while 18% of respondents already hold XRP and 25% plan to enter the market in 2026, a decisive 65% cite a lack of regulatory clarity as the primary barrier to greater investment.

Consequently, attention is fixed on Washington. The prevailing market expectation is that large-scale institutional capital will only commit once the CLARITY Act legally secures XRP's status as a non-security at the federal level. Until this legislative clarity is achieved, a significant segment of institutional money is likely to stay on the sidelines.
