Quantum eMotion Secures Non-Dilutive Funding for Advanced Chip Security Project

Quantum eMotion secures non-repayable NRC IRAP funding to develop a quantum-resistant SoC with Taiwan's JMEM Tek, combining QRNG, PUF, and post-quantum cryptography.

Quantum eMotion Corp. has been awarded up to CAD $600,000 in non-repayable funding from Canada’s National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP). For an early-stage technology firm, this grant represents a significant advantage: it provides capital for a major hardware development initiative without issuing new shares or altering the company’s equity structure.

Strategic Collaboration and Technical Ambitions

The capital will support a joint research and development venture with Taiwan-based semiconductor design specialist JMEM Tek. The project’s objective is to create a quantum-resistant System-on-Chip (SoC). Combined investments from all parties are set to exceed CAD $2.5 million.

Technically, the initiative focuses on merging three distinct security layers onto a single semiconductor. The first is Quantum eMotion’s patented electron-based Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG), which, unlike photonic alternatives, can be miniaturized to chip-scale for direct integration at the silicon level. This will be combined with JMEM Tek’s Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) technology, which generates a unique, silicon-embedded fingerprint to serve as a hardware root of trust. The final component is a post-quantum cryptography module designed to meet standards set by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Potential applications for the resulting secure SoC are broad, spanning artificial intelligence systems, cloud infrastructure, financial services, defense, healthcare, and the protection of critical infrastructure.

Geopolitical Alignment and Recent Corporate Momentum

The partnership between a Canadian company and a Taiwanese chip designer is timely, coinciding with concerted efforts by Western democracies to secure and diversify their semiconductor supply chains. The combination of Canadian government funding and specialized Taiwanese PUF expertise mirrors a wider geopolitical shift toward developing trusted technology sources.

This NRC IRAP grant follows a period of notable activity for Quantum eMotion. In early March, the company secured 45 billion KROWN tokens, valued at approximately $67.5 million USD, using its proprietary QRNG2 technology. Furthermore, its Quantum Crypto Module is undergoing a FIPS 140-3 validation process through a NIST-accredited laboratory. Achieving this certification could pave the way for entry into tightly regulated markets, including government procurement and financial services.

The company’s shares are now listed on three exchanges: the TSX Venture Exchange, the NYSE American, and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Quantum eMotion commenced trading on the NYSE American on February 24, 2026. In recent trading, the stock was quoted at CAD $3.51, following a previous close at CAD $4.02.
