POET Technologies shares plummet 40% in 30 days; Citadel and Jane Street disclose sizable passive stakes. A class-action lawsuit and order cancellation add pressure, while the company targets optical-engine production ramp by H2 2026.

POET Technologies is caught between two very different readings of the same story. On one side are the share-price figures: the stock fell 10,01 Prozent on Thursday to 6,56 Euro and has lost almost 40 Prozent over the past 30 days. On the other are two heavyweight Wall Street firms that have recently disclosed sizable passive stakes.

Citadel reported a holding of 5,1 bis 5,9 Prozent as of 8. Juli, and Jane Street then disclosed a 6,8 Prozent position. The filings came as many retail investors were heading for the exits, underscoring how sharply sentiment has split around the photonics group.

The latest slide leaves the stock more than 65 Prozent below its record high of 18,84 Euro in May. At 6,71 Euro, the shares also sit just beneath their 200-Tage-Durchschnitt of 6,87 Euro, while the gap to the 50-Tage-Durchschnitt of 10,32 Euro remains about 35 Prozent. That contrast captures how quickly momentum has reversed.

A class-action lawsuit has added another layer of pressure. The complaint says POET misrepresented its tax status, specifically its classification as a Passive Foreign Investment Company, or PFIC, during the period from 1. bis 27. April 2026. Plaintiffs argue the company failed to disclose negative tax consequences for shareholders in the United States.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying POET Technologies?

The legal dispute comes after an earlier operational shock. Marvells Tochter Celestial AI canceled all orders with POET, and the shares tumbled by 45 bis 47 Prozent in a single trading session. Since then, the stock has remained volatile even by the standards of a small-cap technology name.

Technicals reflect that instability. The annualized 30-day volatility stands at over 100 Prozent, while the RSI has slipped to 36,2 in one reading and knapp 37 in another, putting the stock close to oversold territory. Those signals have done little to steady the tape.

Still, the bullish case has not disappeared. Seeking Alpha recently reiterated a "Strong Sell" rating, arguing that the shares remain roughly 60 Prozent below their peak even after POET raised around 830 Millionen Dollar in fresh capital and confirmed its production ramp for the second half of 2026. That same fundraising also supports the longer-term plan to scale manufacturing.

Management is targeting an optical-engine production ramp in the second half of 2026, with capacity of up to one million units per month by the end of 2027. About 50 Millionen Dollar in investment is earmarked for equipment in late 2026.

POET Technologies at a turning point? This analysis reveals what investors need to know now.

The company also says it has more than ten active customer discussions, which together could generate more than 100 Millionen Dollar in future annual sales. Separately, an agreement on external light sources is part of the effort to broaden the revenue base. In the first quarter of 2026, POET reported revenue of 503.389 Dollar, up from 166.760 Dollar a year earlier, while net loss came to 12,3 Millionen Dollar, or 8 Cent je Aktie.

Funding is still a major part of the story. Over the past 12 months, POET has raised 830 Millionen Dollar through equity issuance, and warrants could bring in as much as a further 661 Millionen Dollar. For investors, that leaves a familiar tension: a heavily diluted but well-financed balance sheet, ambitious production goals, and a stock that remains under intense pressure from both the courtroom and the market.
