Oxford Lane Capital Announces Terms for New Preferred Share Dividends
04.04.2026 - 05:35:30 | boerse-global.deOxford Lane Capital Corp. is implementing a significant recapitalization of its balance sheet. As the company's common shares face substantial year-to-date pressure, investor focus is shifting to its newly issued preferred stock. Management has released specific details regarding upcoming distributions for the 2031 series, concurrently moving to retire an older series of preferred shares from the market.
Common Equity Underperforms Amid Strategic Shift
The picture for Oxford Lane's common equity stands in stark contrast to the reception of its new preferred offerings. Following a sustained downtrend, the common stock closed at $9.86 on Friday. This price point represents a loss exceeding 34% since the start of the year and places the shares well below their previous highs. These capital measures highlight the adjustments being made by the firm, which specializes in collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), to the current market environment.
Fixed-Rate Terms for 2031 Series
For the recently issued preferred shares, the investment company will pay a fixed annual dividend rate of 8.25% based on the liquidation preference. This translates to $2.0625 per share annually. The initial monthly payment, scheduled for April 30, 2026, will be approximately $0.24. This slightly higher starting amount accounts for the accrual period since the securities were issued on March 20. For the following month of May, the regular payment will then decrease to just under $0.17.

Costly Exchange and Strong Market Reception
In tandem with servicing the new securities, management is streamlining its balance sheet. Oxford Lane Capital is calling 2.8 million shares of its older Series 2027 preferred stock for early redemption. These older shares carried a notably cheaper dividend rate of 6.25% compared to the new issuance. The market has responded favorably to the new, higher-yielding papers, which reached a valuation of $24.70 this week.
By exchanging its preferred stock, Oxford Lane secures long-term financing until 2031, but accepts higher ongoing capital costs to do so.
