The European Space Agency has awarded OHB a framework contract worth 248 million euros, equivalent to approximately 2.67 billion Swedish kronor. This major award tasks OHB Sweden with the manufacture of 20 additional satellites for the Arctic Weather Satellite programme. The deal represents a considerable win for the group, channeling a quarter of a billion euros into its operations.

Strategic Focus on Earth Observation and Climate Data

The 125-kilogram satellites are designed for operation in a polar orbit. From an altitude of 600 kilometers, their primary mission will be to gather critical atmospheric data. This information is expected to enhance the accuracy of weather forecasts specifically for Arctic regions and contribute vital inputs to global climate models. The contract strengthens OHB's competitive standing within the expanding Earth observation market.

Production Efficiency Through Serial Manufacturing
