Ørsted Shareholders to Vote on Key Governance and Capital Allocation Plans
06.04.2026 - 06:01:31 | boerse-global.de
Investors in Danish renewable energy giant Ørsted are preparing for the company's Annual General Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2026. The registration deadline for participation concludes at midnight tonight. The agenda features pivotal resolutions with long-term structural implications, including a proposed new share buyback authorization and a comprehensive refresh of the company’s supervisory board.
Strategic Focus and Operational Momentum
From an operational standpoint, Ørsted is currently in a significant construction phase. The company has 10.2 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind capacity already installed, with an additional 8.1 GW under active development. Notable projects in the pipeline include Hornsea 3, which at 2,852 megawatts (MW) is set to be the world's largest offshore wind farm upon completion off the UK coast, alongside developments in Germany and Poland. Strategically, the firm has sharpened its focus on core European markets while scaling back its operations in the United States.
Financially, Ørsted reported an operating result of DKK 25.1 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. Its next quarterly figures are due for release on May 6, 2026. In trading, the share price was last quoted at DKK 158.25. This level remains substantially above its 52-week low of DKK 102.82, though it has yet to recover to the yearly peak of DKK 327.50.

Proposed Overhaul of the Supervisory Board
A major item for shareholder approval is a near-total renewal of the shareholder-elected members of the supervisory board. Current members Judith Hartmann and Annica Bresky are stepping down. Ørsted’s board of directors has nominated three candidates for election:
- Karen Boesen: Currently Chief Financial Officer at ferry operator DFDS, she offers financial expertise with relevant experience from the energy sector.
- Karl Johnny Hersvik: As the CEO of Aker BP, he provides direct, hands-on knowledge of the offshore industry.
- Samuel Leupold: A former Ørsted executive, he previously served as CEO of Wind Power when the company was still known as DONG Energy.
On the employee-elected side, Benny Gøbel and Pawel Matysiak have been re-elected, while Ruchit Majmudar joins as a new member. All three will assume their positions following the conclusion of the AGM.
Share Buyback Proposal
Considerable investor attention is centered on the separate resolution to grant the board a fresh share repurchase mandate. This authorization would provide management with a tool for capital allocation, allowing it to return value to shareholders directly. The final decision rests with the vote at the upcoming meeting.
