Nvidia has embarked on a multi-billion dollar investment spree, committing over $36 billion to key artificial intelligence partners in just one month. This aggressive capital deployment comes as external pressures mount, with geopolitical instability in the Middle East threatening critical supply chains and prompting the closure of the company's Dubai offices.

Financial Firepower Fuels AI Ecosystem Expansion

A wave of strategic partnerships underscores Nvidia's ambition to dominate the AI infrastructure landscape. The company recently unveiled a collaboration with Palantir to develop "Sovereign AI" architectures. These solutions are designed to allow governments and large corporations to process sensitive data locally, utilizing Nvidia's eight-GPU Blackwell-Ultra platform integrated with Palantir's AIOS, Foundry, and AIP Hub software.

This announcement follows a $2 billion investment in Nebius Group, representing approximately seven percent of that company's market capitalization. The deal grants Nebius early access to Nvidia's forthcoming Rubin architecture. Furthermore, Nvidia has allocated $30 billion to OpenAI and committed $2 billion each to Coherent and Lumentum to secure next-generation optical networking technology.

These substantial investments are supported by formidable financial results. For its fourth fiscal quarter of 2026, Nvidia reported revenue of $68 billion, a 73 percent year-over-year increase. Adjusted earnings per share climbed 82 percent to $1.62. Market analysts project the company's free cash flow for fiscal 2027 could reach as high as $180 billion.

Supply Chain Vulnerabilities Emerge

Escalating conflict in the Middle East presents a significant headwind. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has pushed Brent crude oil prices above $100 per barrel. A more direct concern for Nvidia is the supply of helium, a gas essential for cooling during semiconductor manufacturing. Qatar, a focal point of regional tensions, produces over one-third of the world's helium. Industry reports suggest Nvidia, Amazon, and Microsoft are viewed as potential targets for disruptive actions in the region.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?

Market sentiment reflected these broader concerns recently, with the Nasdaq Composite declining 1.78 percent and the S&P 500 falling 1.52 percent in a single trading session. Despite the volatility, Cantor Fitzgerald reaffirmed its "Overweight" rating on Nvidia stock, setting a price target of $300. From a trading level around $182 at the time of the analysis, this implies substantial upside potential.

Upcoming Conference in the Spotlight

Attention now turns to Nvidia's annual GTC conference, scheduled to begin on March 16. The event is anticipated to feature major announcements in physical AI and robotics, highlighting the company's strategic pivot. Nvidia is increasingly positioning itself not merely as a supplier of semiconductors but as a provider of comprehensive "AI factory" architectures. This approach involves deep integration into the ecosystems of partners such as Texas Instruments and WekaIO. Whether the conference can provide fresh momentum for the share price, which has retreated roughly eleven percent from its November 52-week high, will be closely watched in the subsequent days.
