Nvidia is broadening its horizon beyond traditional tech frontiers, establishing itself as the essential AI infrastructure provider for industries previously on the periphery of its strategy. The chipmaker's latest partnerships signal a deliberate push into the energy and nuclear power sectors, aiming to drive growth through specialized AI solutions.

Financial Performance and Ambitious Targets

The company's operational strength provides a robust foundation for this expansion. For its fiscal fourth quarter of 2026, Nvidia reported revenue of $68.1 billion, marking a substantial 73% increase compared to the same period the prior year. Full-year revenue reached $215.9 billion, a 65% annual gain. Currently, the stock trades slightly below its 50-day moving average and approximately 14% below its November 2025 all-time high.

Looking ahead, CEO Jensen Huang outlined a concrete objective during the GTC 2026 conference in mid-March. The goal is to achieve cumulative sales of at least one trillion dollars for AI chip systems—encompassing the Blackwell and Vera Rubin architectures—by the end of 2027. For the first quarter of fiscal 2027, the company anticipates revenue of about $78 billion, with the four largest hyperscale cloud providers expected to be the primary contributors.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nvidia?

Accelerating Nuclear Power Development

In a particularly ambitious move, Nvidia is collaborating with Microsoft to tackle major bottlenecks in the nuclear sector. The joint initiative focuses on deploying AI-powered tools to streamline two of the industry's most significant challenges: protracted licensing procedures and fragmented engineering data. Early pilot programs have yielded remarkable outcomes. One participating startup reported a 92% reduction in licensing time by utilizing Microsoft's AI tools, which are built upon Nvidia's Omniverse and CUDA-X platforms. This acceleration could potentially lead to savings of up to $80 million per project annually.

Building AI Factories for Energy

Nvidia has also announced an expanded partnership with energy technology corporation SLB. Under this agreement, SLB will serve as a modular design partner for Nvidia's DSX AI Factories. The core mission is to develop scalable data centers specifically tailored for energy companies. The collaboration aims to leverage generative AI to analyze geological and production data, with the ultimate objectives of reducing both operational costs and emissions. The relationship between the two firms dates back to 2008, with a sharpened focus on generative AI since 2024.

These dual collaborations underscore a strategic pivot. By supplying the critical AI infrastructure for complex, data-heavy industries like energy and nuclear power, Nvidia is not just selling chips but positioning itself as an indispensable partner in their digital and operational transformation.
