Nordex Shares Surge to New Annual Peak on Major Contract Win
18.03.2026 - 04:58:03 | boerse-global.deShares in wind turbine manufacturer Nordex SE reached their highest level in a year following the announcement of a significant new project in Germany. The company's stock closed at €46.18 on Tuesday, marking a fresh 52-week high and bringing its year-to-date appreciation to nearly 170 percent.
Strategic Shift Bears Fruit
The rally was fueled by news that Nordex secured a major repowering contract for two wind farm projects located in Fehmarn, Germany. The deal involves replacing older turbines with 24 modern N163/5.X models, which will provide a combined capacity of 136.8 megawatts. This upgrade on the same land area is expected to yield substantially higher energy output. Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2027, with full commissioning set for the autumn of that year.
Beyond the hardware sale, the true strategic value of this agreement lies in its accompanying long-term service contract. Nordex has entered into a 20-year premium service agreement with the wind farm operators. This move is central to the company's broader strategy of coupling its equipment business with stable, recurring revenue streams from maintenance and servicing.
Building a More Predictable Business Model
The traditional project-based turbine manufacturing business is known for its volatility. By securing multi-decade service agreements, Nordex significantly reduces its operational risk and lessens dependence on one-time hardware sales. This provides greater visibility for future cash flows and enhances financial planning.
Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nordex?
The company, which manages over 64 gigawatts of installed capacity worldwide, reported revenue of approximately €7.6 billion last year. The latest contract reinforces its operational direction, which is further supported by a recently unveiled sustainability strategy.
Market participants responded positively to this combination of a sizable new order and long-term revenue locking. If Nordex's management can secure more service contracts of this 20-year scale before the Fehmarn projects go online in 2027, it would substantially strengthen the fundamental outlook for the company's future earnings stability.
