Nordex Shares Struggle to Gain Traction Despite New Orders

06.04.2026 - 06:13:20 | boerse-global.de

Nordex stock drops 3.1% despite 75 MW in new German orders, as distant 2027-28 revenue and a stretched valuation dampen investor optimism ahead of Q1 results.

Despite announcing two new wind farm contracts from Germany with a combined capacity of approximately 75 megawatts, Nordex SE shares fell by as much as 3.1% on Monday. This market reaction underscores the challenging environment the wind turbine manufacturer currently faces, where even positive news fails to lift investor sentiment.

New Projects with a Future Revenue Horizon

In late March, the company secured two significant domestic projects. The first involves supplying five N163/6.X turbines for the 35 MW Frettertal wind farm in the Sauerland region. The second is a repowering project, Lütau 2 in Schleswig-Holstein, for which Nordex will provide seven N149/5.X turbines with a capacity of 39.9 MW. Both contracts include a 20-year Premium Service agreement, representing a stable, long-term revenue stream. However, a key detail tempers immediate optimism: these orders are not expected to contribute to revenue until 2027 and 2028, respectively.

In a market where investor expectations are elevated, routine announcements of orders with such a distant payoff appear insufficient to drive the share price higher.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Nordex?

Stretched Valuation Limits Upside Potential

The stock's current valuation offers little room for disappointment. Nordex is trading at roughly 7.6 times its estimated 2027 EV/EBITDA. This multiple sits about 20% above its ten-year average of 6.4. This premium follows a substantial rally—shares surged 158% in 2025 and have advanced a further 12% year-to-date in 2026. Consequently, the bar for new positive catalysts is set exceptionally high.

Reflecting this view, analysts at BofA Securities recently downgraded the stock to "Neutral." Their assessment noted that the potential for "significant outperformance" is already largely reflected in the current share price.

Upcoming Q1 Report as a Crucial Benchmark

All eyes now turn to the company's forthcoming financial results. Nordex has provided guidance for 2026, targeting group revenue of €8.2 to €9.0 billion and an EBITDA margin between 8.0% and 11.0%. The first-quarter figures, scheduled for release on April 27, will serve as an initial concrete indicator of whether the company is on track to meet these annual goals.

Given the already demanding valuation, any perceived weakness in either new order intake or project execution is likely to be met with noticeable selling pressure. The Q1 report will be the first major test of investor confidence in Nordex's annual trajectory.
