Micron Technology has delivered a staggering forecast that has left Wall Street scrambling to update its models. For its fiscal third quarter of 2026, the memory chip giant now anticipates earnings per share between $18.75 and $19.55, a figure that nearly doubles the previous analyst consensus of around $10.50. Revenue guidance was similarly explosive, projected at $32.8 to $34.3 billion compared to earlier estimates of $22.4 billion. This upward revision of almost 50% underscores a market dynamic far exceeding even optimistic expectations.

The company’s confidence is being echoed across the financial and research communities. UBS raised its price target on Micron this week to $535 from $510, implying an upside of roughly 27% from recent levels. The bank’s analysts point to an accelerating "supercycle" in the memory chip sector. This view is powerfully supported by fresh data from Gartner, which forecasts global semiconductor revenue will surge 64% in 2026 to over $1.3 trillion. Within that total, the memory segment is expected to be the primary engine, with revenue potentially tripling to $633 billion.

Specific product categories are poised for extraordinary price increases. Gartner predicts DRAM prices will jump 125% in 2026, while NAND flash prices are forecast to skyrocket by 234%. The relentless demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure is the unambiguous driver. Hyperscale cloud providers are expected to boost their spending on AI hardware by more than 50% this year alone, creating a severe supply crunch that benefits established players like Micron.

Should investors sell immediately? Or is it worth buying Micron?

This bullish outlook is already translating into concrete financial results and strategic moves. Micron’s previous quarter, reported on March 18, showed a year-over-year revenue surge of 196% accompanied by record margins. Building on that momentum, the board has authorized a 30% increase in the quarterly dividend, lifting it to $0.15 per share from $0.12. Shareholders will receive this enhanced payment on April 15.

Beyond core memory, Micron is aggressively pursuing new growth vectors in edge computing. On April 8, the company announced a strategic investment in SiMa.ai, a specialist in energy-efficient AI solutions for autonomous systems and industrial automation. The collaboration aims to integrate Micron’s LPDDR5X memory with SiMa.ai’s Modalix MLSoC chip to power so-called "Physical AI" applications in robotics and smart factories.

On the hardware front, series shipments of its next-generation HBM4 memory, specifically designed for NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform, commenced in the first calendar quarter of 2026. To meet overwhelming demand, Micron has planned capital expenditures exceeding $25 billion for the full year, funding new cleanroom capacity in Taiwan, Idaho, and New York.

The stock’s performance reflects this potent mix of fundamentals and sentiment. Since hitting a 52-week low around €60 in April 2025, the share price has staged a remarkable rally of approximately 475%, currently trading near €360. The equity has gained about 31% since late March and now sits roughly 67% above its 200-day moving average. Numerous analysts maintain "Buy" or "Outperform" ratings, citing long-term HBM supply contracts that provide unprecedented revenue visibility for the years ahead.
