Metaplanet Concludes Latest Equity Financing as Funding Round Fully Executed

Metaplanet disclosed on Friday that it has closed its most recent financing round, confirming receipt of funds tied to the issue of new shares and subscription rights of the 25th series, allocated through a third-party placement.

The process was initiated at the end of January, when the board approved the issuance in a meeting held on 29 January 2026. With the payment now in, the capital measure is fully implemented.

Such equity raises are a fixed component of Metaplanet?s funding strategy, but they bring concerns about dilution. Issuing new shares and subscription rights increases the total number of outstanding shares, which can impact the value of existing stakes. As a result, investors remain focused on the company?s capital structure.

Parallel to the funding news, Metaplanet also announced its 27th ordinary general meeting.

Bitcoin Strategy Shapes the Business Model

Metaplanet?s business model is closely tied to Bitcoin acquisitions and the revenues they generate. At the end of January, the company revised its guidance for 2025 and outlined an optimistic trajectory for 2026. The majority of expected revenue and operating profit is anticipated to originate from the Bitcoin business.

However, the company cautioned about the volatility inherent in this approach. For 2025, it expects material non-cash impairment charges on its Bitcoin holdings due to accounting rules. Given the difficulty in forecasting cryptocurrency prices, Metaplanet did not issue a net income forecast for 2026.

The coming months will reveal how the expanded capital base influences the further execution of its Bitcoin strategy.
