In a significant move on Monday, analysts at Jefferies upgraded their rating for MercadoLibre from "Hold" to "Buy." The firm slightly adjusted its price target downward from $2,800 to $2,600 but emphasized the substantial upside potential from the current trading level of approximately $1,710. Strategic Pivot in Digital Assets

Concurrent with this positive analyst action, the company is executing a crucial strategic shift within its Mercado Pago fintech unit. It is discontinuing its "Mercado Coin" cryptocurrency program in Brazil, which primarily functioned as a loyalty system. The focus is now shifting to "Meli Dolar," a stablecoin pegged one-to-one to the US dollar. This initiative is designed to provide users in Brazil, Mexico, and Chile with a more stable financial instrument, thereby reducing exposure to currency volatility within the MercadoLibre ecosystem.
