The orderly delisting of Menhaden Resource Efficiency PLC from the London Stock Exchange has now been finalized, marking the end of the road for the sustainability-focused investment fund. This move concludes a multi-year process of capital return to shareholders, following the fund's official removal from the UK Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) list at the end of 2025.

A Strategic Wind-Down

The fund's journey toward liquidation began with a strategic review, culminating in a decisive vote by its board in December 2024. The primary drivers were structural issues common to many smaller investment vehicles: persistently low trading liquidity and a stubborn discount of the share price to its net asset value (NAV). These factors rendered the closed-end fund model increasingly unattractive for its investors. The board determined that a controlled dissolution of the portfolio and a direct return of capital was the most effective way to deliver value.

Shareholders received multiple distributions throughout 2025 as the fund's assets were sold. A significant interim payment of 51 pence per share was made in June 2025. The fourth and final capital return, announced in November 2025, represented the realization of the vast majority of the remaining holdings.

Administrative Finale

The process has now entered its last administrative phase—a Members' Voluntary Liquidation. With the shares already delisted and no longer trading, remaining investors are awaiting the formal confirmation of the company's dissolution. No further distributions beyond those already communicated to the market have been publicly announced at this time.
