Maxus Mining Accelerates Critical Minerals Exploration in Canada
02.04.2026 - 04:59:37 | boerse-global.deMaxus Mining is ramping up the pace of its critical minerals development efforts in Canada. The company has shifted into a higher gear following its full acquisition of the flagship Alturas project, initiating an intensified exploration program across its extensive land holdings. A particular metal, deemed indispensable for both the energy and defense sectors, is central to this new phase of activity.
Antimon Takes Center Stage
The current exploration campaign is primarily focused on antimony. This metal is classified as strategically critical due to its expanding role in defense and energy technologies. The consolidated land package now under Maxus's control encompasses several historically significant sites, including the former Alps-Alturas mine. Historical records from this area point to substantial antimony content, averaging 57.2 percent with peak grades reaching as high as 59.5 percent. Alongside this primary target, geologists are also following up on previously identified occurrences of silver, lead, and zinc.
A Strategic Footprint Established
The company has secured a strategically significant position within British Columbia's Slocan Mining District, with total land holdings spanning approximately 37,000 acres. This follows the complete purchase of the Alturas West property. CEO Scott Walters emphasized that achieving this scale of control, free from any third-party obligations, is the pivotal factor enabling the efficient development of the known mineralizations.

Market Performance Lags Operational Progress
This operational momentum has yet to be reflected in the company's share price performance. The stock has faced considerable pressure in recent months, hitting a new 52-week low of 0.48 euros just this Tuesday. While shares showed tentative signs of recovery by the end of the week—closing at 0.56 euros on Wednesday for a weekly gain of nearly 12%—they remain down more than 50% for the year to date.
Next Steps in the Exploration Pipeline
The upcoming work phases across the vast property are already clearly outlined. Management intends to conduct geophysical surveys and integrate all historical data. This work is designed to pinpoint the next precise drilling targets and methodically expand the existing resource base.
